The severe weather bringswith it a need for enhanced communications at a time when traditional modes may be down, and THIS is whereamateur radio operators can provide a great service to their communities and wider areas. Not sure how to contribute to Amateur Radio Efforts? Here are a few suggestions to get you started: Take a SKYWARN class through the National Weather Service to keep you weather-spotting skills up todate For more details, see NWS SKYWARN website at: https://www.weather.gov/skywarn/ Check the TN ARES website for information about local ARES groups, and CONTACT THEM to become amember. tnares.com Being an ARES member will help you to become more involved BEFORE the need arises, so you will befamiliar with their processes before you are called upon to help. They will work with their served agency andwill let you know when you need to deploy. Find and participate in local , area and state-wide nets to become familiar with the “net norms” . These arelisted for each section on the TN ARES website.
