Revolutionary Products for High CapacityAffordably Priced Universal Testing Machines for High CapacityApplications in a Compact PackageInstron introduces its new SATEC series ofuniversal testing systems. By building on yearsof experience, Instron has kept the best of itsstatic hydraulic technology while infusing thisnew SATEC series with compact packaging, amodern appearance, high-performanceelectronics and leadingedge software. TMCost-Effective Technologyfor High Capacity TestingSingle Footprint DesignSaves Floor SpaceDeveloped for high capacity testing, theseframes use hydraulics to cost-effectivelyprovide the forces necessary for static tension, compression, bend and shear testing. Bothmodels in the series are available in 150 kN,(33,750 lbf), 300 kN (67,500 lbf) and 600 kN(135,000 lbf) capacities.Available in LX and DX models, these newsingle footprint testing systems combine theload frame, hydraulic power supply, electronics and control panel into a singlepackage - reducing floor space requirementsby more than 60%. Labs can now performhigh capacity testing affordably and withoutsacrificing valuable lab space.Superior Technology forMeasuring Force DirectlySATEC series frames use strain gauge load celltechnology to independently and directlymeasure the force being applied to thespecimen. In contrast, older designs thatfeature pressure transducers measure forceindirectly based on oil pressure. Indirectmeasurement requires cumbersomemechanics and techniques to overcome pistonfriction, compensate for hydraulic oil weightand prevent the piston from sticking on thecylinder bottom. By eliminating thesemechanics and directly measuring force, theload cell technology of the SATEC series offerssuperior accuracy, precision and repeatabilitywith less maintenance.ordinaryvs.M600LX frame configured for metals testing (left).300DX frame configured for rebar testing (right).2POther systems require a frame, control unit andhydraulic pump - wasting space and complicatingcable runs (left). DX LineTwo Test Spaces for the Ultimate in VersatilityChrome platedcolumns fordurability.Versatile Frame DesignThe DX models feature two test spaces sousers can quickly change between tensionand compression testing without having toremove heavy fixtures. This flexible designhelps to ensure safety, reduces operatorfatigue and improves productivity. These systems feature rigid chrome platedcolumns, an adjustable upper crossheadwhich can be positioned via notches and astandard motorized lower crosshead topermit flexibility in configuring the size ofthe test spaces.Built-In Wedge Gripscrossheadoptions21GCrosshead Options:1. Standard crossheads with in-headwedge grip pockets are simple, functional and ideal when budgetconstraints are a primary concern.2. Optional crossheads with fully-openfront wedge grips make it easier toinsert and remove samples forincreased productivity.A variety of tensile applications can beperformed using the wedge action gripslocated inside of the crosshead and mayeliminate the additional expense of externalgrips. However, external grips can beconnected as needed to enhance theversatility of the frame.Mechanical limitswitch providessafety and protectsthe frame.Tracking neatlyroutes hoses foroptional hydraulicgrip actuation.Strain gauge loadcell directlymeasures force.grip1control2Hydraulic MotorExtensometer and loadcell connections plugdirectly into the base ofthe frame for quick andcorrect set-up.GGrip Control Options for Closed Crossheads:1.
