While we hopethat many of these papers will be eventually submitted toJIBS, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve thequality of IB research and bring new scholars into the IBfield. We invite original papers from junior scholars whohave not previously published in JIBS. In particular, wehope to attract papers from scholars (1) who are located inuniversities in emerging economies or in universities thatoffer limited support for international business research,or (2) who are trained in disciplines less commonly associated with the field (e.g. human geography, political science, ethnography, or economic history) but interested inconducting international business research. The PDW will be structured to provide feedback toauthors with research papers, and to researchers who aredesigning empirical studies, on international businesstopics. Last year, participants received feedback on theirwork from about 30 JIBS editors and members of theConsulting Editors Board (CEB) and Editorial ReviewBoard (ERB). The program will start with an introductorysession led by the JIBS editorial team and JIBS authors. Theparticipants will then divide into two groups. Authors offull research papers will be paired with CEB and ERBguest editors for two-on-two discussions where two guesteditors will provide feedback to two authors on improvingtheir paper. At the same time, authors with paper ideaswill meet with CEB and ERB guest editors in a small-groupsetting where two editors will provide feedback to five ormore authors on their research paper ideas. After a lunch6AIB Newsletterbreak, all participants will split into small-group sessionswith JIBS editors to discuss successful publication strategies.Participation at the PDW is limited. Participants willbe invited based on the quality of their submitted work.We are expecting two types of submissions, full researchpapers and paper ideas. It sheds lighton management operations in its totality in order forit to function with more clarity. Each book highlightsone topic area while it brings the rest of the components in an illustrative format rather than in depth. It includes tools as well as ways to make strategyand operations work in tandem in order to attainoptimum results in organizations.Steven J. A firm’s success is increasinglya function of how well it operates in a globalizedenvironment, and markedly, its effectiveness innavigating through the cultural diversity among itsinternal and external constituents. It follows thatglobal citizenship skills are desirable attributes forworkers to possess, and a critical competency formanagers. A disproportionately modest number ofprofessionals, however, have these skills developedto a level commensurate with the requirements thatsupport a vision of enterprise competitiveness in aglobalizing marketplace. Globalization has evolvedfaster than school programs and personnel policies. The demand for global citizens now well-exceeds thesupply. The skills can be learned, but training has notbeen broadly implemented in schools or businesses, and typically considered the purview solely ofstudy abroad programs or foreign assignments.
