Invacare Perfecto₂ V Oxygen ConcentratorDANGER!Risk of Injury or DeathDepending on their medical condition, patients on flowrates greater than 5 L/min may be at an increased riskfor serious injury or death in the event of failure.– ALWAYS discuss this increased risk with your healthcare supplier BEFORE using this product if you areprescribed a flow rate greater than 5 L/min.WARNING!Risk of Injury or DamageUse of this product outside of the intended use andspecifications has not been tested and may lead toproduct damage, loss of product function, or personalinjury.– DO NOT use this product in any way other thandescribed in the Specifications and Intended Usesections of this manual.DANGER!Risk of Injury or DeathWhile Invacare strives to produce the best oxygenconcentrator in the market today, this oxygenconcentrator can fail to produce oxygen due to powerfailure or device malfunction.– ALWAYS have a backup source of oxygen readilyavailable.– In the event the concentrator fails to produce oxygen, the concentrator will briefly alarm signaling the patientto switch to their backup source of oxygen. Refer toTroubleshooting for more detail.1.3Indications For UseThe intended function and use of the Invacare Perfecto₂ VOxygen Concentrator is to provide supplemental oxygen to patientswith respiratory disorders, by separating nitrogen from room air, byway of a molecular sieve. It is not intended to sustain or support life.1.4DescriptionThe Invacare Perfecto2 concentrator is used by patients withrespiratory disorders who require supplemental oxygen. The deviceis not intended to sustain or support life. The oxygen concentration level of the output gas ranges from 87%to 95.6%. The oxygen is delivered to the patient through the useof a nasal cannula. The Invacare Perfecto2 concentrator uses a molecular sieve andpressure swing adsorption methodology to produce the oxygengas output. Ambient air enters the device, is filtered and thencompressed. This compressed air is then directed toward one oftwo nitrogen adsorbing sieve beds.Concentrated oxygen exits the opposite end of the active sieve bedand is directed into an oxygen reservoir where it is delivered to thepatient. The Invacare Perfecto2 concentrator is capable of operation by thepatient in a home environment or in an institutional environment.Device operates at a nominal 120 VAC/60 Hertz supply.Service information will be available upon request to qualifiedtechnical personnel only.1.5ContraindicationsThere are no known contraindications.61193322-A-04

Usage6 Usage6.1IntroductionYour oxygen concentrator is intended for individual use indoors. It is an electronically operated device that separates oxygen fromroom air. It provides high concentration of oxygen directly to youthrough a nasal cannula. Clinical studies have documented thatoxygen concentrators are therapeutically equivalent to other types ofoxygen delivery systems.Your supplier will show you how to use your oxygen concentrator.He/She should be contacted with any questions or problemsregarding your oxygen concentrator. This user manual will tell youabout your concentrator and will serve as a reference as you useyour concentrator.6.2Select a LocationWARNING!Risk of InjuryTo avoid injury during therapy:– The oxygen concentrator MUST be placed on a levelsurface for use.– DO NOT relocate the oxygen concentrator while inuse.WARNING!Risk of Injury or DamageTo avoid injury or damage from airborne pollutantsand/or fumes and for optimal performance:– Locate and position the concentrator in a wellventilated space so that the air intake and the airexhausts are not obstructed.– NEVER block the air openings of the concentratoror place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air opening may be blocked.– Keep the openings free from lint, hair and similarforeign items.– Keep concentrator at least 12 in (30.5 cm) away fromwalls, draperies and furniture.– Avoid use in presence of pollutants, smoke or fumes, flammable anesthetics, cleaning agents or chemicalvapors.– Place concentrator in a well ventilated area to avoidairborne pollutants and/or fumes.– DO NOT use in a closet. You may select a room in your house where using your oxygenconcentrator would be most convenient. Your concentrator can beeasily rolled from room to room on its casters.Your oxygen concentrator will perform best when operated underthe conditions outlined in Specifications.Usage in environments other than those described may result in theneed for increased equipment maintenance. The air intake of theunit should be located in a well ventilated area to avoid airbornepollutants and/or fumes.1193322-A-0417

Allowboiled water to cool to room temperature beforefilling.– DO NOT overfill humidifier.– Replace the humidifier cap and securely tighten.Confirm that the cap is not cross-threaded on thehumidifier bottle.– DO NOT reverse the oxygen input and outputconnections. Water from the humidifier bottle willtravel through the cannula back to the patient if inputand output connections are reversed.– When using tubing connections longer than 7 ft(2.1 m) in length, position the humidifier as closeto the patient as possible to allow for maximumhumidification output.18WARNING!Risk of Injury or DamageFailure to properly install the humidifier bottle or otheraccessories to the concentrator will impact the flow ofoxygen.– To check for proper operation of the oxygenconcentrator and accessories, place the end of thenasal cannula under the surface of a half-full cup ofwater, only when the oxygen is flowing, and lookfor bubbles indicating proper operation. Wipe anyexcess water off the nasal prongs when finished beforeplacing on the patient.– If there are no bubbles, check all connections(including humidifier bottle and other accessories, ifapplicable) and repeat. Contact your dealer or servicesupplier immediately if bubbles still do not appear.1193322-A-04

Usage2.If the flowrate on the flowmeter ever falls below 0.5 L/min D formore than about one minute, the Potential Obstruction Alertwill be triggered. This is a rapid beeping of the audible alarm.Check your tubing or accessories for blocked or kinked tubingor a defective humidifier bottle. After rated flow is restored tobetween 0.5 L/min and 0.75 L/min, the Potential ObstructionAlert will turn off.A Potential Obstruction Alert indicates a conditionthat may be associated with a partial or completeobstruction of oxygen output. The use of some accessories such as thePreciseRx Pediatric Flowmeter and the HomeFillcompressor will deactivate the Potential ObstructionAlert.Do not set the flow above the RED ring. An oxygen flowgreater than 5 L/min will decrease the oxygen concentration.1.Turn the flowrate knob A to the setting prescribed by yourphysician or therapist. To properly read the flowmeter B, locate theprescribed flowrate line on the flowmeter. Next, turnthe flow knob until the ball C rises to the line. Now,center the ball on the L/min line prescribed.6.3.4SensO2 Oxygen Purity IndicatorThis feature monitors the purity of oxygen generated by the oxygenconcentrator. If purity falls below factory preset standards, indicatorlights on the control panel will illuminate.6.3.5Initial Startup of the ConcentratorConcentrator may be used during the initial warm-up time(approximately 30 min.) while waiting for the O2 purity toreach maximum. When the unit is turned on, the yellow light will come on indicatingthe unit is operating and is in the initial warm-up period. When thegreen light comes on, the unit is in normal operating mode (SYSTEMOK/O2 greater than 85%). Once in normal operating mode, the lightswill be controlled depending on the oxygen concentration values.1193322-A-0421
