VETTE SETTENewsletter of the Oklahoma City Corvette ClubEstablished 1960Growing on 61 Years of Tradition and Corvette EnjoymentJune Edition, 2021President:I am writing this article in the hopes that everything went well at Festival. It will not befor the lack of effort as it takes a lot of planning to pull off a good event. Even more difficult when youhave to host it out of town. Securing a venue, locking down a hotel with enough rooms and prices withinbudget, workers, lunches, timing and communication equipment, brooms, fire extinguishers, tents, clubhelmets, etc. And when it is all over there are the results that have to be compiled and with this one that istwenty-one events to get out with entrant and worker points assigned. Wears me out just thinking about itnot to mention doing it.But it is time to start with our next event in July and again it will be out of town. This time in Ardmore. Isent out an email with the host hotel information and the cut-off date for the room block of June 18th. Thiswill be a more laid-back weekend than twenty-one races. For those of you who like to cruise or enjoyshowing off your pride and joy this one is for you. We have a car show, funkahana, a couple of rallyesand maybe a sunset lake cruise if Benna gets it scheduled. And with the summer comes more outdoor car shows so check out the calendar and Gene will try to keepyou updated. Also, there is a meet-n-eat schedule every month. Last month was the annual trip to Clintonand the White Dog Hill restaurant. Good food and a nice cruise even a trip down memory lane down witha stretch of the “old concrete” Route 66 on the way back. If you have a spot you want to tryout let Benaknow. And finally, we had some fun with a contest about the newsletter last month. I challenged you to findsomething that did not look just right. Had a lot of great responses and found a few housekeeping issueslike old email addresses but in the end, Chris Gann found the reversed view of the cruise to Roosters inHennessey.Enjoy,Alan
