This year we had a relatively smallcohort of 47 students and to have so manyachieving in the top bands across a wide range ofsubjects was an outstanding achievement not onlyfor the students and the school but also for thecommunity.Highlights of the 2010 results were Eleven cases where students were placed inBand 6 of a subject –the highestachievement level. They were as follows –Kimberley Bright (Business Studies andLegal Studies), Olivia Congdon (AdvancedEnglish and Visual Arts), Andrew Ham(Primary Industries), Stacey Lang (2 UnitMaths and PDHPE), Jordon Milburn(Advanced English and Visual Arts), PennyRaleigh (Extension 2 Maths), MirandaTaylor (Legal Studies) There were 56 cases in 18 different subjectareas where students were placed in Band5 which means that they scored over 80%for a subject. By any standard this is anamazing achievement. In fourteen different subjects studentsachievements were either at, or above thestate average for the subject – in manycases well above. These subjects wereAncient History, Business Studies,Community and Family Studies, StandardEnglish, Advanced English, Legal Studies,General Maths, 2 Unit Maths, PDHPE,Senior Science, Metal and Engineering,Hospitality, Textile and Design and PrimaryIndustries. Thisis largely due to the tremendous support that thecommunity has offered to the school over theyears that the program has developed. The schoolhas a long term vision for the program and againapproached local service organisations and primaryproducers in 2010 for support to help worktowards these goals. When we take students to shows we are providedwith assistance from many mums and dads withtransport, cooking, washing and care of the kids. Many thanks to all these parents and especiallyJinette Leatham, Tina Maxwell, John Montgomery,Keith and Jenny McAllister and Maree Campbell.Students were given financial assistance toparticipate at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2010by Murray Hut CWA, NSW Farmers Jerilderiebranch and Tocumwal Op Shop. TheGrey Fergey Club organised and executed thesowing, cutting and baling of enough hay to seethe program through, at least until the end of thisyear. In executing this exercise they were able toTowards the end of 2010 the boys from FinleyAPEX Club invited us to one of their meetings totalk about our program. We were absolutelystunned when they told us that they wanted toaccelerate our long term plan so that the School’sAgriculture program and its facilities could becomea real show piece, in time for the 2011 school year. They have done just that. Over the school holidaysthey set their team into action and have erected amagnificent shed so that the students can prepare3

their cattle in all weather. This structure will havepower, lights, water and a very large water tank toprovide water for stock. There will be an officialopening in the near future.
