It began as a colony, grew and developed, and took part in theFrench and Indian War. It declared its independence along with the other twelve colonies. Fightingduring the American Revolution took place in Pennsylvania, and it was the second colony to becomea state when it ratified the Constitution on December 12, 1787. There has been much growth anddevelopment throughout the years, with Pennsylvania taking part in some of the earliest history ofthe new nation.
