2Introduction / Safety hints all tyre brands of Continental3Tyre safety tipsThe technical data and other details on tyresand accessories have been compiled to reflectas exactly and completely as possible thecurrent state of development and are basedon ETRTO 1), ISO 2), WdK and DIN 3) standards. This data book contains comprehensiveinformation on our car, 4x4, LT (light truck)and van tyres. Most of the tyres of Continental AG comply withDOT4) regulations and are marked accordingly.Unless not otherwise specified, the instructionsand data given in this data book are valid for alltyre brands of Continental AG.They are homologated in accordance withthe relevat UN / ECE 5) regulation (ZR tyreswithout service description in accordancewith EU guideline 92/23).Instructions and data exclusively validfor Continental or other single tyre brandsare specially marked or displayedon separate pages. This databook is intended for information andinstruction only. No liability whatsoever will beaccepted for damage, regardless of its natureand its legal basis, arising from advice givenin this book.We recommend that the inflation pressureof every tyre is checked and adjusted at leastevery 14 days. This does also apply for vehiclesequipped with a tyre pressure monitoringsystem (TPMS). Avoid driving over sharp-edgedor pointed objects.Lower inflation pressures, greater loads orhigher speeds than specified by the vehicleand / or tyre manufacturer all shorten theservice life of tyres and can result instructural damages. We recommended that new tyres are run in atmoderate speeds for the first 125 to 190 miles(200 to 300 km) to roughen the tread surface. The tyre does not achieve its best performanceuntil after this running-in period. We recommend all wheel positions are fittedwith tyres of the same tread pattern. It is especially important that SSR runflat tyres*)are not mixed with standard tyres. Please observe the detailed operatinginstructions on page 109 ff.1)ETRTO – The European Tyre and2)ISO – International Organizationfor Standardization3)DIN – German Institute for Standardisation, BerlinWdK – German Rubber Manufacturers’ Association,Frankfurt / M.4)DOT – Department of Transportation (USA)5)UN / ECE – Economic Commission for Europe(UNO-Institution, Geneva)Rim Technical Organisation, Brussels* ) only available for tyre brand Continental and UniroyalSee page 23 for further detailsTyre Databook Car · 4x4 · Van2020 - 2021SAFETY WARNING!The instructions givenin this databook must beobserved to ensure vehiclesafety at all times. This applies especiallywith respect to tyre inflation pressurerecommendations.Non-compliance with these instructionsmeans risking tyre damage which, if seriousenough, may result in a tyre bursting. It is hazards like these that can cause trafficaccidents involving vehicle damage and / orserious personal injury.
