Craffle Time!Trinity’s beloved Craffle event is scheduled for Sunday, December 5th! Here’s yourchance to do some Christmas shopping while supporting your faith community. “Craffle’ isa combination of craft and raffle—though it is actually an auction and includes much morethan crafts! There are gift baskets of various themes in addition to items handmade bymembers of the Trinity community. All proceeds from this event will go toward a muchneeded repaving of Trinity’s parking lot, along with adding handicap spaces in the old location of the portables. We would love to have you donate items to be bid on at the Craffle! In the past therehave been handmade wood crafts, jewelry, and other handmade items; along with themebaskets, such as Dr. Seuss, Frozen, Star Wars, Christmas movie baskets, cats, camping, garden, picnic, and many more. We’ve also had businesses—such as a spa or coffeeshop—donate a basket. If you would like to askyour favorite local business to donate items for abasket, contact Pastor Matt to get a donation request letter. Please bring donations to church the weekbefore the event, either Sunday November 28th orduring office hours (9-1) from November 29—December 2. When you do, you’ll fill out a formwith an item description and minimum bid. If youritem does not receive any bids, it will be returnedto you. Then plan on attending this fun event between and after services on December 5. Biddingwill open at 9:15 and close promptly at 11:20, sobid early and often!TRINITYVICTORVILLE.ORGMARKED WITH THE CROSS OF CHRIST, WE LOVE, CELEBRATE AND SERVE3

Worship NewsWednesday Advent ServicesAfter survey results taken in earlyNovember did not come back conclusivelyeither way, we decided to have do a blendof online-only and in-person services onWednesdays during Advent. The season will kick off on December 1 with an online-only service live fromthe Anderson home. Download or print thebulletin that will be sent in advance (wordswill not be on the screen) and sing alongwith us as loud as you want, with worries about who will hear you! Then there will be two in-person services, on December 8 and 15. Each of these firstthree services will feature the beautiful, reflective music of Holden Evening Prayer. At thetime of publication, we do not yet know if these in person services will be livestreamed, depending on the availability of personnel. Then on December 22 we’ll be back to broadcasting live from the Anderson homefor an Advent & Christmas sing-along! This event was so much fun last year, we decided todo it again. Except this time we’re going to try to get a booklet of lyrics out to you in advance so you have an easier time singing along – again at the top of your lungs, with noinhibitions!Hanging of the GreensOur annual decorating of the church for Advent andChristmas will happen on the morning of Saturday, December 4th, at 9:00 a.m.; this year with a brand new tree!Come and join us to “deck the halls” and the Sanctuaryand enjoy some delicious brunch food. It’s a wonderfulway to get into the spirit of the season and enjoy one another’s company. All are welcome to come join in the workand fun!Looking for Sunday ProducersScott DeWald and Michele Sharik (with assists from Brianne Pituley) have done awonderful job producing our online service to keep worship accessible for those not currently attending in person. But they’re taking on a lot with just two people on the schedule. Are you a tech-savvy person? Having a couple more people who could learn the systemand assist with and eventually run our livestreamed services would be a huge help. Ourstreaming software runs on Apple iPhones and iPads, so a familiarity with iOS is helpful, but not completely required -- it's not all that difficult to learn. Please contact MicheleSharik at michele.sharik@gmail.com.December 2021MARKED WITH THE CROSS OF CHRIST, WE LOVE, CELEBRATE AND SERVE4

You Are the ChurchFinancial Update: Consider an Increase or End-Of-Year OfferingAs you can see from the Financial Update on page 2, our income has fallen significantly behind our expenses in recent months. In addition, we recently received word that acouple members who moved away in recent years will no longer be contributing to Trinity’sministry. We were blessed that these members continued to support Trinity even thoughthey were no longer in the area. However, now that they have discontinued that support,we will have a significant drop in offering income – around 15,000 a year – unless thoseof us who are currently active at Trinity can make it up.Please consider whether you may be able to support Trinity’s ministry in one or bothof these ways:1) An increase to your regular offering to help make up for this recent loss of income.2) An extra one-time gift here at the end of the year.In order for it to appear on your 2019 giving statement for tax purposes, pleasemake sure your contributions are made in a worship service or postmarked by December31st.We hope you consider it a joy to participate in and support all the ministry God is doing in and through Trinity!IRA ContributionsAlso, did you know that if you are over the age of 70.5 and are the owner of a traditional IRA you can use your required minimum distribution (RMD) to help support your favorite charities? Through what is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, those whoqualify can avoid paying income tax on the amount of the IRA distribution if it is sent directly to the charity. In 2015, congress made this a permanent feature of the tax code. Youcan do this anytime during the year.If you do use this method, please ensure your financial institution sends the payment in a way that you are identified as the contributor. At times we have received thesecontributions with no name attached. Thank you for your generosity!Important Congregation Meeting Dec 12Trinity has two regular congregational meetings a year (June and December), and itis important that our members make these a priority. The congregation itself is the highestgoverning body of our church, and if you are a member, you are a part of it!At the December meeting it is always fun to receive the packet of written annual reports from our ministry teams, officers, pastor, and more. We’ll also approve the annualbudget (copies of the proposed budget will beavailable a week or two before), and elect aNominating Committee who will work to nominate candidates to fill vacant council positions at our June meeting. The meeting will follow a single worshipservice at 9:30 on December 12th. See youthen!TRINITYVICTORVILLE.ORGMARKED WITH THE CROSS OF CHRIST, WE LOVE, CELEBRATE AND SERVE5

Serving Our NeighborsChristmas Giving TreeThe Giving Tree will soon be up in the entryway, with two types of tags to take in order to provide for those in need this Christmas. One opportunity is local, and the otherglobal.Red Tags: These are to provide coats for local school children, and we hope to also addwinter hats and gloves this year. As you can see from these letters from past years, thekids are so appreciative of having a coat for their early morning trips to school. Each tagbears a size and gender for a jacket. If you are able to, add a hat and mittens/gloves aswell. Feel free to donate additional coats as well that you don’t grab a tag for. Then bringunwrapped jackets, hats, and gloves to church on or before December 12th, so that wehave enough time to deliver them before Christmas break. They may be placed on the table in the Conference Room.Round Ornaments: These are a part of ELCA World Hunger’s Good Gifts program. Here’show it works:1) Grab an ornament or an item you’d like to purchase, along with a catalog or order form.2) Use the order form to check off the item you’d like to order, and place it in the offeringwith payment, mail it directly, or order online at ELCA.org/goodgifts.3) Give the ornament to a person in whose honor you are making this gift, or hang it onyour own tree to remember your gift. Feel free to use a greeting card available on the tableby the order forms.Other Donations WelcomeOne of the greatest needs for those who are homeless are fresh, clean socks, particularly for homeless men. We will be collecting new men’s socks to distribute to both local homeless and through Central City Lutheran Mission in San Bernardino. Place them inthe “sock box” in the Conference Room.In addition, we can always use food to help stock our office food shelf so that wehave something to give folks that come to the door asking for a bit of help. Donations maybe placed in the baskets in the entryway. These items are especially helpful to have instock: Bumble Bee “Snack on the Run” Chicken or Tuna Salad packs, granola or cerealbars, crackers with peanut butter or cheese, Vienna Sausages, Chef Boyardee canned Ravioli/Lasagna/etc, peanut butter, cereals, mac & cheese, ramen noodles, soups, andcanned or individually packed fruit.Thank you, thank you, thank you To all who helped and worked so hard to makeour fall community service activities and events happen, thank you so much! It was great to be able to gather again for theTrunk or Treat on October 31st, serving around450 hot dogs with chili, and lots of candy to ourneighbors. With your generosity we provided 75 full Thanksgiving meals to families in our community.TRINITYVICTORVILLE.ORGMARKED WITH THE CROSS OF CHRIST, WE LOVE, CELEBRATE AND SERVE7
