1st July 2022Summer 22 Newsletter 9Plans for the Summer Fete (Saturday 9th 12-3) are in full flight, there will be lots of fun stalls and games including forestschool, circus skills, hook a duck, coin toss, and the always popular stocks. There will also be some exciting inflatables,delicious BBQ food, cream teas and a well stocked bar.Summer Fete raffle information and raffle tickets have come home this week in your child’s bag.We've enclosed 1 book of raffle tickets for you to buy or sell. ( 1 a ticket/ 5 a book). Please return sold, or unsold raffle tickets and cash to the PTA Team after school on Thursday 7th July or, Friday 8th July to make sure your tickets are included in the draw.A huge thanks again to all our generous raffle prize donors including Crealy, Rainbow and Sprinkles, Element Karbon, SaltCellar, OB’s, Salon No 8, Black Tor Brewery and Stuart Line Cruises.Do pop and say hello at the PTA table in the playground after school on Friday. Congratulations to FreyaBig well done to Freya in Cherry class who entered apoetry competition in Gala Week run by the library. Freyawas presented with a prize by the town mayor thisweekend and her poem will be submitted to the town’sclimate committee to demonstrate local children beinginterested in nature and the environment.Congratulations to Henry and BeatriceWell done to Henry (Beech) and Beatrice (Sycamore) who took part in the ELSSC swimming gala at the weekend.Beatrice came first in her race and Henry took part in three races coming 1st, 1st and 2nd. Henry is the first eightyear old to compete in the 2x 50m races plus a 25m race. Such a fantastic achievement. Well done!Congratulations to Eloise and PiperIt has been a busy weekend for Eloise and Piper. Eloise took part in a gymnastics challenge competition with lots ofdifferent clubs in Devon and performed excellently. Both girls took part in a Jubilee Swimming Gala with Piper coming 1stin breaststroke and 2nd in backstroke and freestyle and Eloise coming in 1st in backstroke and 2nd in breaststroke.

Congratulations to Harry and LucyBig well done to Harry and Lucy who completed the Dartmoor Perambulation 90km of hardtrekking and three nights of wild camping. What an achievement!Year 6 VS Parents/TeachersThe year 6 football team took on a team ofmums/dads/other adults in a cracking gamelast week. The game was full of goals,including some top corner efforts from MattJones, and some controversial penaltydecisions against Wilf Wilkinson. In ato-and-fro game, the kids came back tolevel the game, before taking the lead andthen losing it in the last minute. The gamewent to penalties, which the kidsdeservedly won. This caps a great seasonfor the team. A huge thanks to coaches Bushand Hill for everything they gave. Thechildren learned so much and progressedso well. Nice work all. And thanks to KatieJames for supplying the half time oranges!Year 4 Escot Residential

Sports DayThank you to all the parents, carers and grandparents who came to support the children on Sports Day! It was a brilliantevent despite the occasional downpour and the children did fantastically.
