Residential ProductsArc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI)Eaton’s Arc Fault CircuitInterrupter (AFCI) is a circuitbreaker that provides protection from fires caused byarcing faults. Arcing faultscan occur when insulationaround cords, wires, or cablesis damaged or deteriorated.According to the U.S. FireAdministration, an estimated248,000 one & two residentialbuilding fires are reported, causing 2,135 deaths, 8,550injuries, and 5.9 billion inproperty loss. TheCombination Type AFCI(CAFCI) is the latest of ArcFault technology and iscurrently required inthe 2005, 2008 and 2011National Electrical Code. These products offer fireprevention in the installedwiring and also increaseprotection in connected cordsthroughout the home.Type CHType BRTYPECABLESome causes of Arcing Faults6EATON CORPORATION Residential Product Guidewww.eaton.com

Residential ProductsGround Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI)GFCI breakers provide protection for people from thehazards of electrical shock inareas where the electricitymay come into contact withwater. GFCIs are required inany application near water, such as kitchen countertops, bathrooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, outdoor receptacles, etc. (crawl paces and garagesare also included).Type CHType BRClassified Circuit BreakersAre produced by onemanufacturer for use in placeof the breakers specified onthe loadcenter. Residential ProductsDuplex Circuit BreakerTandem/duplex breakers are convenient for adding circuits to afull loadcenter and are sometimes used to reduce the physicalsize of the loadcenter.BD BreakerClass CTL (Circuit Limiting). They will only fit onto loadcenter bus stabs that are notchedto accommodate the rejectionclip built into the bus barcontact on the breaker. Thisis a code requirement thatlimits the number of breakersthat can be installed into aloadcenter.BR TandemIdentical to BD tandem breakers, except they do not havea rejection clip on the bus barcontact. Not Class CTL andare intended for replacementpurposes on loadcentersmade prior to 1968.Circuit Limiting:Notched Bus Stab(BD Only)EATON CORPORATION Residential Product GuideNon- Circuit Limiting:Unnotched Bus Stab(BR Only)www.eaton.com9

Residential ProductsQuadplex Circuit BreakersQuadplex breakers are used insimilar applications to theDuplex breakers. TheQuadplex breakers create (4)circuits in (2) spaces, which allows for 240 Volts circuits, unlike the Duplex breaker whichcan only provide 120 Volts.Quadplex breakers are available in many configurations:BQ BreakerBQC BreakerAllows for Independent Trip ofeach circuit.10 (1 & 2) 240V circuits(15A-50A). (2) 120V circuits(15A-20A).Common Trip element internalto breaker trips all circuitssupplied by the breakerwhen any circuit experiencesoverload or short circuit.EATON CORPORATION Residential Product Guidewww.eaton.com
