Student Accounts SpecialistOverview:Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Student Accounts Specialist is an important partof the Financial Aid team and a collaborative partner in meeting various institutional goals andobjectives. Additionally, the Student Accounts Specialist will demonstrate by example, a clearcommitment to providing excellent customer service. Moreover, the Student AccountsSpecialist will ensure full compliance with all federal and state Title IV regulations andreporting.The Student Accounts Specialist reports to the Director of Financial Aid.Job dutiesJob duties for this role include (but not limited to) the following requirements as demonstratedin TRACS accreditation requirements, Financial Aid Guide/Policies and Procedures handbook,and state requirements with The Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary EducationCommission (GNPEC): Verifying that tuition and fees are current and accurate on student ledgers eachsemester.Posting Financial Aid to student accountsPreparing and distributing student account statementsMaintaining the “holds” report and releasing “holds” against delinquent accounts.Assisting students with the student account questions and resolves escalated studentaccount issues.Recommending actions in the collection of past due accountsDelivering bank deposits to bankFinancial aid refunds or credit balances on student accountsAssisting with the quarterly audits by preparing files for the audit, pulling designatedsamples and account reconciliations as neededKeeping current on billing and payment policies and proceduresReviewing out of school account balances and pre-collection letters and preparing forsubmission to collection agencyResponding to all internal and external inquiries regarding charges, payment policiesand proceduresIssuing bills (invoices) to third party payers on a timely basis and frequently reviewaccounts to make sure paid.Conducting in-house collection activities, including preparing communication tostudentsPreparing and analyzing a monthly Student Accounts Receivable Aging ReportOverseeing distribution of payment plans on student accounts.2

Staff AccountantOverview:Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant is an important part of Businessand Finance Team and a collaborative partner in meeting various institutional goals andobjectives. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will be a demonstrate by example, a clearcommitment to providing excellent customer service. Moreover, the Staff Accountant ensureeffective administrative support for students, faculty, and staff for the campus.Job dutiesThe Staff Accountant must perform the following duties and responsibilities: Complete monthly reconciliations, including but not limited to bank statements, AccountsReceivable, Accounts Payable, staff, payroll, grants, work orders, daily bank deposits, andcampus-wide cash collections.Assist with payroll functions to ensure timely disbursement of payroll checks, timelydeposit of payroll taxes, retirement and medical contributions, and various internalreports to ensure proper reconciliation of all payroll transactions.Assist the Chief Financial Officer with financial planning for the college and preparingfinancial reports and adhering to all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations,procedures, and reporting requirements.Serve as liaison to independent auditors for all state and federal audits.To perform these essential functions, the Senior Accountant must be present at work.Therefore, attendance is an essential function.Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.The Staff Accountant must display the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.Must have 1-3 years of experience in general ledger accounting.CPA or CPA-track preferred.Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all management levels within theinstitution as well as key individuals in other organizations/agencies to providemaximum support to students, faculty, and others being served by the Institution.Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, general business programs, policies andprocedures is required to insure effective/efficient use and distribution of financial andother resources.Knowledge, understanding, and business application of Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples (GAAP).4

Project CHOICE Community Navigator InternshipBackgroundMorris Brown College is a private, coed, liberal arts college in the Vine City community ofAtlanta, Georgia, United States. It is a historically black college affiliated with the AfricanMethodist Episcopal Church. Morris Brown is seeking interns to help assist with the CHOICE(Community Health Optimizing Improved Care Empowerment) Project.Project CHOICE Community Navigator DescriptionThe CHOICE Project will primarily serve African American young people at the highest risk forHIV between 13 to 24 years of age, including such subpopulations as African American menwho have sex with men (MSM). All project participants will be served within and be a residentof Fulton County in the state of Georgia, a locality hardest hit by the HIV epidemic.During this internship, the selected student (s) – known as “Community Navigators” – will gainhands on experience in project management through leadership, organization, time and riskmanagement and problem solving here at Morris Brown College. The internship may be offeredas college credit as approved by the institution. The responsibilities include:1. Assists in the management and coordination of navigated service delivery sites forparticipants, as guided by the Individual Development Plan2. Assists in the identification and removal of barriers to participants fulfilling slateddevelopmental goals and objectives.3. Assists in the recruitment of participants.4. Assists with the management of participants i.e. tracking participants and keepingrecords of participation utilizing Excel spreadsheet, and other tracking measures.5. Assists Project Director and Project Coordinator/Lead Navigator with developing,implementing.and maintaining Social Media Marketing strategies.6. Participates in Project CHOICE Advisory Board meetings.7. Other duties as assigned.Compensation and DedicationThis is a paid position with an hourly rate of 20 an hour. The registrar serves as the custodianof the records for students and ensures compliance with FERPA and other regulatory bodies.This person maintains the academic record of all students and plans and implements theregistration process for classes. He/she works with other administrators to coordinate timesand locations for class meetings and resolve scheduling conflicts.
