The School’s first-time candidates earned an overall passing rateof 80% for all parts of the CPA exam attempted in 2017.G R A D U AT I N G S T U D E N T S Accounting at UF traces its roots back to 1923 when thefirst accounting course was offered. From there the demandfor more course offerings quickly grew and in 1947 thedepartment of accounting was officially formed with 255students. With continued growth, the department formed intoan experimental School in 1977, and the faculty Senate voted tomake the School permanent in 1983. It was ultimately renamedthe Fisher School of Accounting in 1985 to honor alumnusFredrick Fisher. Today, Gerson Hall houses the Fisher Schoolof Accounting administrative offices, its faculty, and students.Gerson Hall is a 36,000 square foot, 9.3 million structure.The School’s faculty have earned Ph.D. degrees from the nation’sleading universities and are committed to excellence in teaching,research, and service.
