Our strategy ofcrime prevention is based on the principle that the surest way to reducecrime is to focus on factors that put individuals at risk.Over the last twenty seven years, Navjyoti has been working relentlesslyto bring about qualitative behavioral change and impact lives of over onelakh people. Approximately 600 women beneficiaries have beendirectly trained in the stitching course since the association.

3.ObjectiveThe project area is characterized with a typical rural setting with thewomen and girls of the area mostly involved in household chores, havingno say in the family affairs. Excluded from receiving higher education andentirely dependent on their male counterparts, they have to bear thebrunt of most of the evils like dowry, domestic violence etc and are notallowed to step out of their houses. Project Details4.To promote employment oriented vocation skills and training tothe adolescent girls and women from the communityTo provide awareness on social issues to adolescent girls andwomenTo encourage self employment by providing related training andexposure visitsTo certify and to liaison with the trained institutes in order tostrengthen training and placements opportunities for the trainedgirls and womenThe project will focus on skilling of adolescent girls and women with noknowledge and prior knowledge in stitching. Awareness & confidence of the women will be enhanced on socialissues. Women will be motivated to setup their own income generationunits/start activities.The project is a low cost model as it involves participation andinvolvement of various stakeholders. The venue in the villages is provided by the community withoutany charges. Volunteers and institutions will be associated with the project forexpert trainings The trained teachers will be encouraged to run their own stitchingcentres in the villages on a partnership model in next two years. Eventually the vision is to establish ‘Unnati’ as a brand in next 5years so that the women can earn on a sustained basis for

themselve .
