4AU SUMMER UNIVERSITYLECTURER PRE-ARRIVAL GUIDEPLANNING YOUR STAY IN AARHUSVISAAs an international employee at AarhusUniversity staying in Denmark for less than3 months you will not need to obtain aresidence and work permit before comingto Denmark. However, citizens from somecountries may be requested to hold an EntryVisa in order to enter Denmark. You can readmore about visa requirements here:www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/coming todk/visa/The International Centre at Aarhus Universitywill provide you with a letter of invitation andemployment in order for you to apply forthe Entry Visa. Please contact Lotte at los@adm.au.dk no later than 15 April in case youneed assistance with the visa application.We request that you apply for an EntryVisa immediately after you have receivedthe letter of employment /invitation fromus, since obtaining the Entry Visa for somecountries may take more than 2 months.INSURANCEPlease note that you MUST be properlyinsured during your stay in Denmark. Yourinsurance must as a minimum include:Third party liability, dental injuries,transportation to your home country in caseof illness, as this is NOT included in the Danishhealth insurance scheme. Please consultyour travel agency, insurance company orother in your home country to make sure thatyou are properly insured. Nationals from theNordic countries are covered by the NordicConvention. EU nationals are covered bythe European Health Insurance Card. Beaware that transportation to your homecountry in case of illness is NOT coveredby the European Health Insurance and theNordic Convention.Also remember that you are responsiblefor all of your personal belongings whilstteaching at AU Summer University, so youshould arrange for a home insurance incase of theft.

AU SUMMER UNIVERSITYLECTURER PRE-ARRIVAL GUIDE5TRAVELLING TO AARHUSTHE MOST COMMON WAYS OFREACHING AARHUS ARE:Flying to Copenhagen Airport, then takinga connecting flight to Aarhus Airport (30minutes), and then the airport shuttle toAarhus city centre (Central Train Station).The bus ride is approx. 45 minutes.Flying to Copenhagen Airport and thentaking a train from Copenhagen Airportdirectly to Aarhus. The train ride is approx. 3hours.Flying to Billund International Airport andthen taking the airport shuttle (1½ hours) toAarhus city centre (stops outside the SASRadisson Hotel/Scandinavian Centre).Taking the train all the way to Aarhus.Taking the bus all the way to Aarhus(e.g.Eurolines).Driving by car to Aarhus.AARHUS AIRPORT – TIRSTRUPLocation: 45 km north-east of AarhusAarhus Airport is mainly a domestic airportwith connections to Copenhagen, but it alsohas a connection to London.Shuttle service: There is an airport shuttlebetween the airport and Aarhus central trainstation (Banegården). Note that the shuttlemainly connects with SAS flights. The ride is45 mins and costs DKK 100. It is possible topay with major credit cards and currenciessuch as US dollars and Euro. www.aar.dkBILLUND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTLocation: 100 km south-west of Aarhus, rightnext to Legoland. The main airline at BillundAirport is Maersk Air: www.maersk-air.dkShuttle service: There is an airport shuttlebetween the airport and the SAS BLURadisson Hotel in Aarhus (Margrethepladsen).Timetables are available on www.bll.dk.The ride is 1½ hours and costs DKK 180. Itcan often be booked in connection with theplane ticket. Note that it isoften cheaper if you book it with your ticketto Denmark www.cph.dkFROM COPENHAGEN BY TRAINIf you wish to take the train to Aarhusand enjoy the Danish landscape youmay catch a train either directly from theairport in Copenhagen (Kastrup) or fromCopenhagen central train station to Aarhus.The trip to Aarhus from Copenhagen centraltrain station takes just under 3 hours by highspeed train and 3 hours and 15 minutesby normal train. There is at least onedeparture every hour between Aarhus andCopenhagen, and also good connectionsto the north and to the south (for instanceHamburg, Germany).Seat reservations are not required for mostservices in Denmark but are recommendedif you travel on busy days such as Fridaysand Sundays, or with a lot of luggage. Aone-way ticket on the normal train costsapprox. DKK 360.Tickets are available fromthe DSB ticket office above the railwaystation in Terminal 3. You have to send a detailed list ofthe teaching material, no hard copies andelectronic copies, to Lotte at the SummerUniversity administration. The library willcollect and upload the electronic coursepack to CampusNet, the student intranet, sothe students can download and print it.The printed course pack can be bought inour bookstore. Please note that not all articlesand only a certain percentage of any givenbook may be used according to copyrightregulations. Please see information aboutcopyrights below.CASESIf you want to use cases for your course,we will assist you in providing copyrightsfor all students. There will be a maximumof how many cases can be provided percourse depending on the overall costsof the specific course. We recommend amaximum of three cases.In order to be able to prepare the coursepacks and order books and cases beforethe course begins, please send the list ofliterature no later than 1st May 2012.9COPYRIGHTThe Danish Copyright Law does not allowFair Use or Fair Dealing which is used in theAnglo American copyright tradition. We will assume that youuse the recommended time schedule ifnothing else is stated. You must hand inyour time schedule with references to thereadings to Lotte no later than 1st May 2012.TIME SCHEDULE AND COURSE OUTLINEYou are free to design your own timeschedule for the course, but please note, thatday 1 in each term is reserved for practicalmatters and introductions. We recommendthat courses in general take place every dayin the morning - 5 ECTS courses two weeksof teaching from 09:00-12:00 and 10 ECTScourses three weeks of teaching from 09:0013:00.It is important that you keep the deadlinesin mind as some students want to start theirpreparation before the beginning of thecourse. If you have any questions, pleasedon’t hesitate to contact us.The total number of teaching hours percourse equals 27/54 hours each of 45SOCIAL ACTIVITIESAarhus University will host a welcomedinner at the beginning of each term aswell as a meeting about exams and relatedprocedures. Details of these meetings will beannounced later.We will also offer a social programme andarrange a weekly meeting point for guestlecturers and AU staff. You will receive adetailed programme for all social activitiesand information about where to meet in thelecturers guide.

The InternationalCentre will apply for tax exemption at thelocal authorities on your behalf.Normally there are no issues, but it can takesome time. The International Centre willinform your host department and the AUSalary Department of the outcome of thetax exemption.
