Ms.Fisher also presented to theelementary PE teachers the curriculumfor teaching students to make healthychoices. Additionally other programsare available to support staff such asCheck, Change, Control and monthlynewsletters. CCC will be piloted withcafé and bus staff beginning onOctober and will be considered as partof wellness plan across district in the2018-2019 school year. Wellnessnewsletters will be initiated this yearwithin Hays and AHA has materials tosupport these newsletters.4. Approval of BylawsBylaws reviewed at past severalmeetings. Facts and Stats The “Five For Life” component of the program encourageschildren to adopt the 5 health habits now so they have a goodchance of living a long, healthy life free from cardiovasculardiseases. Did you know that due to childhood obesity, this generation ofchildren could be the first to not live a longer lifespan than theirparents? Currently, less than 1% of the population, and almost no children in theUnited States ages 5-19, have ideal health.

Facts and Stats* Diabetes dropped from 1.7 million to 1.4 million from2008-2015 (first time in 25 years) Adult smoking dropped to 14.95% (lowest in 80 years) Consumption of full calorie soda dropped 25% since 1998 Consumption of whole grains increased by 75% since 2000 Obesity rates in children appear to be flattening (YAY!) butadult obesity rates are worsening. 24% of High School students use 3-vapor products (almostdoubled since 2013)
