I just celebrated my40th anniversary at Sanford and for thepast 32 years I have been part of thepharmacy management team. I workthe operations side of the pharmacy(scheduling, payroll, SOP’s, JointCommission, Safety, etc.) and haveenjoyed all 40 years I have beenemployed at Sanford. On the personalside, I have two children. Patrick, anorthopedic surgeon in Sioux Falls with3 young boys, and Lauren, an OB-GYNworking in Marshall, MN. I enjoyspending time with my family andfriends – especially my grandsons.I graduated from The University ofNebraska Medical Center in 1983 andcompleted a Clinical PharmacyResidency at UNMC in 1984. I startedas a Clinical Pharmacy/NutritionSupport Pharmacist at Sioux ValleyHospital (now Sanford USD MedicalCenter) in 1984 and worked in thatrole until November 1989, when Iaccepted the position of AssistantDirector of Pharmacy at Sioux ValleyHospital. In September 2011, Iaccepted the position of Director ofPharmacy at Sanford USD MedicalCenter and continue in that role today.On the personal side, I am marriedwith two adult children and live inSioux Falls. I have helpeddevelop the cardiology rotation and therounding services with the cardiologyteam and primarily work in the HeartHospital. I became interested incardiology and critical care during myresidency. My favorite rotation wasCVICU in which I was able to work withECMO and LVAD patients. I developed apassion for the LVAD patients and heartfailure in general due to the complexityof these patients and their care.
