This capability makes the instrument particularlysuited for use by scientists wishing to measure chiral compounds and other optically active substances in thechemical, pharmaceutical and food sectors as well as for use in academic research.Stable temperatures for accurate resultsKey FeaturesThe ADP600 Series polarimeters feature XPC Technology Xylem’s patented on-board Peltier temperature control system formeasuring optically active samples at stable temperatures. Xylem’sXPC temperature technology is intelligently applied to the samplechamber of the new polarimeters so that measurement can beaccurately made without the need of an external device such as awaterbath to control sample temperature. High accuracy polarimetersThe ADP600 Series Polarimeters have two preset operatingtemperatures being 20 C and 25 C in accordance with Europeanand United States Pharmacopoeia respectively and other usertemperatures between 20 C and 30 C may be configured via theinstrument user interface.Temeperature control limits are also ableto be set between 0.2 C and 0.5 Cproviding faster stabilisation wherea measurement of lower precisionis required (for example withpharmaceutical applicationswhere Pharmacopoeia stipulates /- 0.5 C).ADP600 Series Polarimetersaccept standard size or speciallow volume leur taper polarimetertubes facilitating measurementacross optical path lengths between 5mmand 200mm with tube diameters from 3mm to 8mmbeing readable. For optimum temperature performance, metalbodied tubes are recommended.Optional lids may be easily fitted to the ADP600 SeriesPolarimeters, facilitating flow applications. ADP MethodologyOne-touch operation for a myriad of methodsIntegral to operational simplicity is the full color, high definition, touch-screengraphical user interface. A menu structure featuring a METHODS system makesfor one-touch calibration and instrument configuration; especially where thespecific rotation of a number of samples is being analysed over a wide range ofconcentrations, path lengths, temperatures and wavelengths.A “Mean Method” is also available, allowing a number of readings to be takenfrom a production batch with the mean being calculated and recorded once theexperiment has been completed. The Mean Method is ideal for pharmaceuticalapplications where compliance with pharmacopoeia is required.The METHODS system is also very similar to that of the wide ranging RFM900-TSeries of high accuracy Peltier controlled refractometers that are in common usethroughout the flavours, fragrance, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.Common scales include I.S.S (z), Specific Rotation, Concentration (g/cm3), Purity,% Invert sucrose, % change (Inversion A-B) and Specific Rotation (concentration,moisture content, length) Batch MEAN Method for Pharmacopoeia and GLP.Fig 1.
