ABOUT NBME COMMITTEES & TASK FORCESWe are both grateful and proud to list the names of the medical educators, academicresearchers, health care leaders and other professionals who served as committee or taskforce members in 2021. These individuals’ diverse backgrounds and experiences, which arefortified by continuous learning and professional development, support true, collaborativerelationships with NBME. In doing so, NBME can create and deliver high-quality, reliableassessments that measure medical students’ and health care providers’ clinical readiness andaptitude in any area.In 2021, 53% of NBME committee and task force members were women.1 Minorityracial/ethnic groups comprised at least 45% of members. Fifty percent of members held amedical degree; 29% held both a medical degree and an additional advanced degree; nearly8% held a PhD alone; and 12% of these members held other degrees from various disciplines.Geographically, nearly 27% of committee members were from the Southern United States; nearly 21% were from the Central United States; 30% were from the Northeast; and 16% were from the West Coast.Additionally, 6% of committee members came from outside the United States; 5% ofcommittee members reported to be either current or former members of state licensing boards.Altogether, more than 228 individuals from more than 117 organizations served on an NBMEcommittee.1Atotal of 181 NBME committee and task force members selectedeither male or female on our survey; 96 members reported to be female.Copyright 2022 by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). FINANCE & AUDIT COMMITTEESFinance and Audit Committee members carry out the fiduciary duties of NBME. The FinanceCommittee reviews and recommends approval of the annual budget to the Executive Board. TheFinance Committee also annually reviews the management of invested funds of NBME, as well as thestatus of the retirement income plan and its underlying trust funds. The Audit Committee reviews theannual audits of NBME and its retirement plans and tax filings (U.S. IRS Form 990) and ensuresadequate internal controls are in place and functioning properly. Altogether, more than 228 individuals from more than 117 organizations served on an NBME committee. 1A total of 181 NBME committee and task force members selected either male or female on our survey; 96 members reported to be female.
