Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences Net Promoter ScoreOn a scale from 0-10, how likely are you to recommend UCCS to a potential student? The net promotor score (NPS) is a measure of customer satisfaction and score represents the likelihood that therespondent will recommend the institution to other consumers. The score ranges from -100 to 100 and we aim fora score between 30-50.19

2020 Alumni Survey JBELOctober 5th, 2020Why did you rate UCCS the way you did?For nursing programThe graduate nursing program did not cover contract negotiations, legal liability, malpractice, procedures beyondpap smears, in depth lab reading skills, advanced ekg reading, business side of healthcare, barely touched codingand billing, and reviewing materials for certification exams-all of this should be included in an MSN/DNP program.Fewer papers and more education on the above would have prepared me better for my NP role, no one in practicegives a rat's a** about theory, philosophy, or nursing policy, or how well I can write a paper in APA format.Strong program with good clinical experience opportunitiesThe cost of the accelerated BSN is high when a vast majority of the coursework is conducted online. I felt I had toself-teach a lot of the material, making the financial burden frustrating. All in all, however, I would not have mycurrent job without the degree I obtained. You have a lot of old professors that have no business teaching anymore. I tell everyone I meet who is thinkingabout going to nursing school to go to PPCC. They offer a better program at a lower cost. Am I thankful for UCCS andBeth-el, yes. Do I think it should be as coveted as it is, absolutely not.I enjoyed my time at Beth El, but I cannot speak to the rest of the campus. Many of my more “general classes” werenot as engaging. You don’t get that big college experience with the big sporting events and the variety of extra curricular activities arenot developed enough.Enjoyed my College experienceThe degree I obtained from UCCS is from a very reputable school. I am proud to say that I went to UCCS.The feeling of warmth, smaller class sizes, GREAT campus, fun activities, gym, the professors were fantastic! Overallgreat school! My class was always the class that got the new professors that still had kinks to work out. Nursing school as a wholedid not feel supportive or invested in my success. But there were a handful of individuals who loved their job andgenuinely wanted students to succeed. Overall, I really couldn’t wait to graduate and my experience in nursingschool is why I chose to seek my masters degree elsewhere.Would like more real life education to apply in practice.Got me the degree I needed and I have a great career, but UCCS did not feel like a true college experience as mostpeople commuted. You had to try extremely hard (harder than was worth it) to be involved in the community andmeet people. My friends who went to other universities made more friends and had more memorable experiences. There were still many growing pains for the nursing program while I attended UCCS. This led to a lack of up to dateeducational resources, diminished function of spaces in the building, and high turnover in the staff in the nursingcollege.Uccs has a lot of things going for it but I do feel it lacks the "big University feel." Years later I still wish it had afootball team, I wish it had more Greek life, I wish it was more known. Even staying in state after graduation peopledon't know what I'm talking about if I say UCCS. So I rated it a 7/10. It doesn't have the scholarly clout of a smallprivate school but also doesn't have the recognition or pep of a large school.I felt that the connections I gained will be very valuable. It was the connections that influenced me to continuepursuing higher education at UCCS. I have gained experience and pursued opportunities within my field of study thatwill be practical for my future career.UCCS is a great place to work and go to schoolI dint agree that the health sciences have the same tuition as nursing. If our internship was included, then it wouldbe ok. We have to pay more for a nutrition degree without receiving all of the benefits. A job is not available, unlessan internship is included.I wanted to attend UCCS Masters program. I graduated from the BSN program with honors and could not get intothe MSN program. Being a graduate of the school should hold some levity, but it does not.20

2020 Alumni Survey JBELOctober 5th, 2020I enjoyed attending and the location is beautiful.I really enjoyed my time at UCCS. Faculty was very approachable and supportive. Class size was not too big. Parkingwas a little rough at times. Overall, UCCS provides a great campus atmosphere.Graduate school chooses to value students trained at other universities over their own UCCS magne cum laudegraduates.Very expensive especially considering the PPCC nursing program seems to be a better one.Smaller class sizes. Great location and plenty of involvementI loved UCCS and will always1. Graduate faculty chair was contentious & demeaning (Mary Hines) 2. Faculty was not supportive or helpful withsecuring high quality clinical sites. You were "on your own". Only Dr. Spicher was a good instructor. 3. Clinicalpreparation was poor. You had to be self-taught and for the high tuition, this makes no sense. I'll be paying studentloans from my social security checks. 4. I'm not interested in the T-shirt 5. The survey question regarding increase insalary (in dollars) does not work. I had to put 50 so I could move on to the next section. Typical UCCS. My salary didincrease by 50,000 per year with my advanced nursing degree, but this increase is based on my licensure, DEApermit, liability insurance, I could've gotten the degree online or at CSU in Pueblo. I hope the graduate nursingprogram at Beth El has been subject to major quality improvement. I don't currently recommend your program toanyone. Not my worst enemy. Not a great alumni network. Professional degrees are not looked super highly on there.21
