Fauquier High School College Visit RequestSeniors will be permitted to visit a college or university for the purpose of classroom/campus observation, collect interviews, orscholarship competition for which they qualify with the absence not to count against the exam exemption policy or the 10 day absencepolicy for course credit. College Application Procedure Checklist1. Research Colleges and Universities for match to your ability, major and location. Go toCollegeboard.org and use the College Search engine.2. Apply. If you are using Common App. you must be sure to electronically sign the FERPAwaiver and then enter your counselor’s name and email so Common App. can forward the counselorportion. Without this, your application will be incomplete. This can and should be done when you startyour portion of the application to give ample time to prepare a quality letter.3. Submit a transcript release form to Mrs. Snyder for processing.Please include an activities resume with the first transcript request for your counselor.Transcripts should be requested AFTER you have sent your application to the College/University of yourchoice, unless you are waiting until the last day they are due. Brown request forms are available in theguidance office.****Students under the age of 18 must have a parent signature.4. Request letters of recommendation – As a courtesy to your teachers/counselor, please have aconversation before sending online requests. * Just because you ask does not mean that every teacherwill agree to do one.*Requests for letters of recommendation and transcripts are due a minimum of 10 school days prior to thedue date.
