BLENDED STREAMMIDWIFERYAND NURSING (18 MONTHS)Our joint 18 monthMidwifery and Nursingprogram provides anideal opportunity forgraduates with doubledegrees in nursing andmidwifery to utilisetheir skills in bothareas in an innovativeand responsivelearning environment.The program is uniquebecause it is 18 months inorder to provide the samediverse continuum of careexperience for the graduatemidwifery component whichrequires 12 months. BLENDED STREAMGENERAL NURSING ANDAND MENTAL HEALTHThe blended acuteand mental healthnursing stream is anopportunity for youto spend six monthsworking in theacute care area andsix months working inmental health nursing.The acute component ofthe rotation will involve amedical or surgical ward inone of our acute hospitals.This component is a tailoredprogram based on thelatest evidence. You willdevelop a strong foundationas a registered nurse tocomplement your rotationin mental health.The mental health rotationinvolves participation inthe Transition to SpecialtyPractice (TSP) Program,which is a structured programwith study days and clinicalassessment work, supportedby the Mental Health PracticeDevelopment Educators.SITESMental HealthADVANTAGESOF THISSTREAM Participation in theTSP is a great careerpathway enhancingclinical and theoreticalknowledge, nursing skillsets and critical thinking Clinical supervision/reflective practice spaceis offered to all graduates. BLENDED STREAMGENERAL NURSING ANDCONTINUING CAREThis streamprovides you withthe opportunity toexperience the fullcontinuum of careof patients fromadmission in theacute environmentto rehabilitationand/or advancedcare planning.A palliative care rotationinvolves supporting patientsand their families withadvanced care planning,management of pain, respite,and all aspects of supportivecare for people experiencingterminal illness.This stream providesyou with the opportunityto work for six months inthe acute care settingfollowed by six months inthe sub- acute/continuingcare environment.
