Join a Summer School programme!The variety of what is offered by Summer Schools abroad is huge. Some summer programs focus, forexample, on a certain subject in a full-time intensive course. Others are less intensive and also offer acultural programme. The duration of a summer school varies from a couple of days up to 8 -10 weeks.In many cases it is possible to receive credits for courses you follow during the summer programme ifyou request approval from your examination board.Attractive offersVU Amsterdam works together with partner universities around the world and many of them offer aSummer School programme. As a VU student you can often get interesting discounts at ourpartner universities, which makes following a Summer School very attractive. In this document, wehave presented our 4 exchange Summer Schools, as well as other Summer Schools from partneruniversities which offer either tuition fee waivers to our students or attractive offers. This is not acomplete overview of all our partners and you are welcome to look into Summer Schools from otheruniversities, for example via this website.5 Reasons why you should take part in a Summer School1. You get international and intercultural experience during a short amount of time, which isusually cheaper than a whole exchange semester2. You get the chance to study at some of the world’s best universities, some of which don’t offera normal exchange semester (yet)3. You can gain extra credits, which you can get approved for your elective semester4. You can follow a course of your particular interest that is not offered at VU Amsterdam or thatprepares you for a specific Master’s5. Even when the tuition fee for a Summer School is waived, you are still responsible for payingfor all your personal costs, like accommodation, travel, visa, food and other personalexpenses. Belgium – Antwerp Summer UniversityStudy field: Applied Engineering, Arts, Business and Economics, Law, Medicine and Health Science,SciencesName programme: Antwerp Summer University (online and on-campus).There are already 7 different summer school programmes on the website. Make sure to keep an eyeon the website as 13 more programmes will be added to this list in February. If covid-19 won’t allowus to physically organise the summer schools on campus, several programmes will be offered online. All programmes offer high quality education (lectures, visits, workshops). Participants can acquire ECTS credits upon successful completion. Target groups are different for each programme (students, researchers and/orprofessionals). Scholarships and reduced fees are available for various summer schools.
