Wilson School of Nursing:BSN Prelicensure ProgramAdmission CriteriaThe Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) program has been developed for students who planto enter the nursing profession and do not hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Highly-qualifiedstudents are admitted in the fall and spring semesters through a competitive selection process. Atthe completion of this program, graduate students are prepared to take the licensure examination(NCLEX) to become a registered nurse.1. To be considered for admission to the Wilson School of Nursing (WSON) BSN Prelicensureprogram, a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required for all core and prerequisite courses (seePrerequisite course information below). Applicants must complete all identified prerequisitesand core classes to be eligible for admission to the program.2. The HESI A2 assessment is required. Minimum HESI A2 scores for program admission are:a. 80% or higher on Math scoreb. 80% or higher on English Language Composite score(must include Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary & Knowledge)3. Applicant must have, or be qualified for, full admission to Midwestern State University.Complete information regarding University application deadlines and requirements can befound on the MSU-Texas Admissions webpage. Admission to Midwestern State Universitydoes not guarantee admission to the WSON BSN Prelicensure program.4. Applications for fall semester admissions are accepted from February 15th to March 31st.Applications for spring semester admissions are accepted from July 1st to August 15th.5. Students must complete all prerequisite and core courses on the BSN degree plan to beeligible to begin the BSN Prelicensure program.Application Process1. Completed the BSN Prelicensure application.2. Provide copies of transcripts from ALL colleges/universities attended (unofficial copies areacceptable).3. Provide copy of HESI A2 exam results. HESI scores are due by MARCH 1st. Prerequisite CriteriaStudents must complete the identified prerequisite courses prior to beginning the BNSPrelicensure program. Students may apply to the program while enrolled in a prerequisite course.If one or more prerequisite courses are in process during the application process, the student maybe offered conditional admission. Admission is contingent on satisfactorily completing the coursesoutlined below.Students are selected based on the cumulative GPA earned on the completed 11 prerequisitecourses (listed in BOLD below). A grade of C or higher is required on all Science courses.Applicants who have enrolled more than twice in any one science course (including F’s and Ws’)are not eligible for admission into the WSON BSN Prelicensure program.The four (4) science prerequisite courses may not be repeated if the grade earned is a C or higher.If a grade of D or F is made on the first attempt and the second attempt results in a C or higher, thetwo grades will be averaged for the GPA.Anatomy & Physiology I & II must be completed within the last 5 years.The six (6) non-science prerequisite courses must have a grade of C or higher and may only berepeated one time.MSU students who are progressing satisfactorily will be given priority for all classes.
