03. Number of Students to be AdmittedThere is no exact quota for the number of international students to be admitted. Candidates areselected upon review of their academic ability, through a special admission process for foreignstudents.04. Eligibility to ApplyEligible to apply when international applicants satisfy all of the following requirements1. Nationality : Female foreign nationals whose parents are both foreign nationality.※ Korean citizens (including dual citizenship of applicant and both parents) will not be consideredeligible for admission※ Korean who obtained foreign nationals(applicant and both parents) are eligible only if she and her parentsobtained their foreign nationals before entering her secondary school(Grade 10) (Only applicable toundergraduate applicants)2. Education : Applicants must meet the following academic amPrerequisitesFreshmenApplicant must have acquired high school diploma before September 2017.TransferApplicant must have completed at least 2 years in a university educationprogram before September 2017, and intend to transfer into the third year.Master’s,Combined Master’sand DoctorateDoctorateApplicant must have completed a four‐year‐course university or university‐equivalent courses and acquired Bachelor’s degree before September 2017.Applicant must have completed a post‐graduate program and acquiredMaster’s degree before September 2017.※ Exception will be made if the countryʹs interdisciplinary academic year and the first day of school are laterthan those of Koreaʹs by one month or less.3. Language Proficiency Requirement : Applicant must meet one of the following languagerequirements.A. The certificate of level 3 or above in Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) for undergraduatefreshmen application, and level 4 for undergraduate transfer or graduate application.※ Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) is recognized only if the transcript is submitted by theapplication deadline. However, those who take the 50th TOPIK(January 15, 2017) or the 51stTOPIK(March, 18 19, 2017) or the 52nd TOPIK(April, 15 16, 2017) (should summit the testidentification first when applying) can be considered to fulfill their language requirement,accepted conditionally. Those who are accepted conditionally should submit the final transcript byMay 26, 2017. If one fails to submit the final transcript or meet the above language requirements,the conditional acceptance will be cancelled.B. Completing level 4 or above of Korean Language Intensive program in Ewha Language Center※ The completion of Korean Language Intensive program will be recognized only if the certificationis submitted by the application deadline. However, those who are still taking course level 4 during-8-

the application period (the certificate of attendance should be submitted first when applying) canbe considered to fulfill their language requirement conditionally. Those who are acceptedconditionally should submit the certificate of completion as soon as the program is completed. Ifone fails to submit the certificate of completion or complete the course, the acceptance will becancelled.C. The following minimum English proficiency test scores: TOEFL(PBT 550, iBT 80), IELTS 5.5, TEPS550※ English Proficiency Test Scores should be submitted before application deadline. Or your Englishproficiency would not be recognized.※ Undergraduate freshmen or Undergraduate transfer applicants who satisfy the qualification withEnglish proficiency can only be admitted to departments or majors whose degree programs areconducted in English. 08. Important Notice for All ApplicantsBasic PrecautionsA. Any matter not specified in this admissions guide with regard to the university’s specialadmissions process for international students will be pursuant to the decision of the university’sAdmissions Review Committee.B. Details of the evaluation process and scores shall not be disclosed.C. Those who fail to submit the application fee or any required documents shall be excluded fromconsideration for admission.D. In case the applicant is found to be ineligible for application, or has made any misrepresentation,alteration to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy), or has perpetratedany other kind of fraud, the university may deny or revoke the applicant’s admission or enrollment.This applies even if the fraudulence poses no immediate effect on the applicant’s passing ofadmission. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked for this reason may notreapply for admission to the university in the future.Instruction for Application and Submission of Required Documents1. Registration of Application FormA. Application fee should be paid during the onlineapplication. Registration is accepted whenapplication payment is completed. If the online payment is not working, applicantshave to send an e‐mail to the Office of Admissions(ienter@ewha.ac.kr) and process the additionalprocedures for payment.⑤ Application Fee Payment(credit card, account transfer) ⑥ Print out the Ewha Womans UniversitySubmission Form Fill out the printed form and sign on it Submit the hard copies of completed applicationform and other required documents by postal mailor in person.⑦ Submission of DocumentsB. The deadline for 1st application is January 26(Thu), 2017 at 17:00 (Korean Time) and the deadlinefor 2nd application is April 28(Fri), 2017 at 17:00 (Korean Time). The Application is accepted whenthe application fee is paid and required documents are submitted. However, if the internet isdisconnected for unavoidable circumstances(ex. local situation), applicants could make anapplication through postal mail or in person without online application. In this case, applicants mustsubmit all the required documents including application fee within application period in order forapplication to be accepted.C. If the submitted documents are incomplete, or the application fee is not submitted, the applicantwould be excluded from consideration for admission.2. Submission of Required DocumentsA. Register application form via internet, print out and fill out the Ewha Womans Universityapplication form, and submit with required documents by postal mail or in person.B. Submitted documents or records will not be returned to the applicant. If the document is requiredto be original and cannot be reissued, please submit the copy of the document withEwha’s/issuing organization’s/embassy’s confirmation of its authenticity on it.C. The documents that are not in Korean or English must be translated to Korean or English and thecopy must be submitted with certification from a notary.D. If the submitted documents are incomplete, or the application fee is not submitted, the applicantwill be excluded from candidates for admission.E. The Office of Admissions may ask an applicant to submit additional documents not listed in the“Required Documents (pp.10‐11)”, if there is a need to verify the authenticity of submittedmaterials.F. In case where the applicant is found to be ineligible for application, or has made anymisrepresentation, alteration to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy), orhas perpetrated any other kind of fraud, the university may deny or revoke the applicant’sadmission or enrollment. This applies even if the fraudulence poses no immediate effect on theapplicant’s passing of admission. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked forthis reason may not reapply for admission to the university in the future.3. Obtaining Medical Insurance and Submission of Insurance CertificateA. All admitted international students must obtain medical insurance.B. Applicants who already have insurance should submit the insurance certificate during thespecified period (in the middle of July).C. If the applicants do not obtain the medical insurance, issuance of the Certificate of Admission maybe limited.※ International students have to maintain medical insurance during the period of attendance. If thestudents do not maintain the medical insurance during the period of attendance, issuance of proofof enrollment may be withheld.3. Tuition PaymentA. Admitted students who are planning to register, must pay for the tuition fee during the specifiedperiod (in the middle of July) to the designated bank.B. Students receiving admissions from more than two universities in Korea, must choose only oneuniversity. If the students violate this rule, their admission offer will be revoked.4. Submission of Additional Documents for Admitted StudentsA. Applicant who is accepted conditionally should submit their TOPIK result or Certificate ofCompletion (Korean Intensive program Level 4) from Ewha Language Center during the specifiedperiod(by the end of July or as soon as the course is complete). If one fails to submit the certificateor the result doesn’t meet our language requirements, the acceptance would be cancelled.B. Concerning the certificates (including transcripts, diplomas, etc.) given by foreign institutions,students must submit the “Confirmation documents from a foreign educational institute”, or“Confirmation document from consulate or embassy” which are certified and verified by theKorean Embassy where the institution is located by the middle of August. If the students are fromcountries for Apostille certificates, they can submit an “Apostille certificate” issued by thegovernment where the institute is located. If the students are from china, they can submit an“Credential Report” issued by China Academic Degree & Graduate Education DevelopmentCenter(http://www.cdgdc.edu.cn).- 14 -
