The Case for a uCPE EcosystemUniversal customer premise equipment (uCPE) is changing theway we create and deliver networking and connectivity services toenterprises. Bringing NFV principles to the customer premisehelps us reduce costs by centralizing management and consolidating hardware appliances onto a single general-purpose whitebox. The real value though, is the flexibility provided by the uCPEmodel. When moving from closed, hardware-centric appliances to thesoftware-centric and open uCPE model, we can remotely supplyand activate services on demand. We can spin up new services inan instant by adding or replacing VNFs on the uCPE, or connect anew location to the network without on-site visits by experts forprovisioning. Moving to uCPE also translates into a higher rate ofinnovation for network services. Developing, testing, and deploying new innovative services is much faster and easier when theyare purely software based and remotely managed. This amazingagility transforms how we look at network functions, from havingbeen single-function hardware appliances to services we can test, deploy, start and stop as we see fit.uCPE based services are multi-vendor efforts. Our ecosystem, withits wide field of expertise in different product areas, provides whitebox hardware, virtualization, VNFs and orchestration as buildingblocks for the solutions used to deliver network services. The ability to mix and match building blocks from different vendors is important for two reasons. First, it allows us to build bestof breed solutions, adapted to specific use cases or customers. Not all end users want to have the exact same solution, and byusing different components with different characteristics, we cantailor network services to different use cases or even individualusers. Second, it prevents vendor lock-in and future-proofs oursolutions. We can extend functionality with new services if theneed should arise, and if we are not satisfied with one component or its pricing, we can replace that one component withouthaving to replace the entire stack or the hardware. The diversity of a large ecosystem with many partners contributing their unique expertise through their offerings is one of themain strengths of the uCPE model. By working together withinour ecosystem, we make sure all those components are available for you to use in your solutions and services. This is why theuCPE ecosystem is so important.3About this catalogWe have made this catalog to show you just how diverse ourecosystem is, and to give an idea of the many possibilities itbrings you.The partners you find listed are our public partners. Some alreadyestablished partnerships are not public for different reasons, andthose partners are not listed here. We constantly add new partnerships, driven by customer requests and deployments.

Virtual Network FunctionsVirtual Network Functions (VNF) provide many differentcapabilities to enterprise networking. Our ecosysteminclude vendors offering a wide variety of functions suchas SD-WAN, routers, firewalls and security applications. Some partners are established vendors with well-knownproducts; others are startups bringing innovative technologies to market. Some partners also offer their products as open source versions. The variety in functionality and approaches makes itpossible to tailor services providing different characteristics, and target various market segments havingunique requirements.128 pe10flexiWAN11Fortinet12Nuage Networks13SonicWall14Sproute Networks154

flexiWANAbout flexiWANflexiWAN, the world’s first modular and open source SD-WAN,was founded by networking, SD-WAN and IP communicationsveterans with a mission to democratize SD-WAN and releaseservice providers and enterprises from the shackles of largenetworking vendors. flexiWAN stands out of the SD-WAN vendorcrowd due to two major differentiators: being open source andhaving a modular architecture. flexiWAN slices SD-WAN tohorizontal layers where the base layer is the NetworkingInfrastructure and on top of that, there is a NetworkingApplications Layer that allows for running interchangeable 3rdparty applications. With this, flexiWAN is like Android for routers.flexiWAN bring to SD-WAN the DNA of open source allowing forflexibility and vendor agnostic deployments.VNFsolutions. This comes in contrary to bolted solutions that bundleall the networking functions into one close software boxsolution. With flexiWAN, service providers can run select SDWAN capabilities in one VNF while adding additional VNFsoffered by vendors of their choice for more advancednetworking tasks. This gives the service providers the freedom to offer tieredlevels of services while limiting their dependency on a singlevendor. Moreover, using the flexiWAN modular nature for runningmission critical applications that need to run in the data flow, along with orchestration of additional VNFs for othercapabilities creates a performance optimized and cost-effectiveoffering to the end user.flexiWAN Benefits:50-90% cost saving –Reduced SW & HW costEfficient sales modelRemoving vendor lock-inFuture proof – Integration of future technologiesDifferentiation - Service providers can offer differentiatedservicesuCPE offeringMore informationSimilar to the benefits offered by flexiWAN, the concept behinduCPE is to allow for variety of functions and vendor lexiEdgeSW edge device running bare metal, VMflexiManageCentral multi-tenant management offeredas SaaS by flexiWAN or self-hosted by theservice provider
