Spring is a time of renewal and a time to do somespring cleaning. Speaking of Spring cleaning, it’s time to roll upour sleeves and get to work.We will be renting out our Training Center to other Clubs forupcoming trials, so we need to get ourselves organized andready! If you have training items at the TC be sure your nameis on it and keep it at, or on, your crate or it will be put in lostand found box.AGILITY:Our new Reception Desk and bookshelves should be in placesoon as we work to organize and spruce up our front entryarea.APPLICATIONS:Since our current floor scrubber has required much moremaintenance than anticipated, we will be voting on purchasing anew floor cleaning machine at our next meeting. As always, weask everyone to do your part in helping keep the TC clean.Lisa Liguorilisaliguori64@gmail.comCan be found on ourweb sitewww.ocodb.orgDisclaimer: the views andopinions expressed hereindo not necessarily represent theviews and opinions of theObedience Club of Daytona, Inc.or the editors.Happy Training and be sure to get outsideand enjoy the weather before itgets too hot.Linda Hudak

There is no other correspondence.Report of the Treasurer: Renee said we met our goal last month of 5K, but we spent 6K. She said weare still good.Linda Hudak and all the Board of Directors want to thank Robin Scott and let her and all the clubmembers know how much we appreciate her continued support and participation in OCOD’s TrackingProgram. Being an experienced Tracking Judge she has given of her time, advice and knowledge toRalph, Pat Dean and many others. She is an essential part of our Tracking program and has helped usgrow and get better while we continue to build our program.Report of the Board Members: At the last Board meeting it was decided that we should improve thefront desk area and purchase a desk and shelving. Pat Mozden was given the task of finding a deskand accessories to make our lives easier. This would include more storage and shelves that would beat our fingertips when we were trying to help folks sign up and do other business at the front entrancearea. Pat wants to thank Joan Costello for sending her pictures of gently used items. She was able toput together a grouping of not only a desk but shelving, a cabinet, and a chair for 230.00. – WHAT ADEAL!We are looking into purchasing a new floor scrubber that is more reliable.Linda Hudak is moving forward to get online payments for classes. She says that the new, youngerstudents like the ease of paying on line. We presently have online payments for annual dues. Theremay be an extra convenience fee of 5 for paying online. You can still pay by check and Joan Costellowants members and new students to put their applications in her desk folder with their checks attachedfor Puppy, Basic, and Intermediate classes. Joan said payments for drop in classes go in an envelopewith the students name and class on the front and drop it in the box.Linda Brendlinger has received a few more member’s dues. A few other members have chosen not torenew. She will send out a new updated list to the website next week that will include our new memberMelinda.Building Committee Report: Ralph said a lot of our ceiling lights are not working and the bulbs will haveto be changed out. Because of the height of the ceiling this will require a scaffold and we will have to bevery careful. The canopy lights outside under the overhang need bulbs also.We have a current rental contract on the building and we will ask the landlord about renewing our lease. On our contract Pat said a certain % can go up on the rent each year and it would be nice to keep therent level because of covid and not have a big jump.Ursala is rebooting our Instagram account. Linda Hudak will give Joan the list to reach more people. We hope they will have it up and running and that it will be similar to what’s posted on Facebook.(Continued on page 5)

Page 8 April 2021Chatter-BarksTo be Voted on at the April MeetingOur Club needs a new floor scrubber, the Scrubber is made by Pacific Co. It is anS20 Disk Scrubber with Traction. This is a walk behind scrubber that is selfpropelled. The advantage of this scrubber is that is very user friendly , no morecrawling on the the floor to put the scrubber disk back on the machine. Most of themoving parts are controlled manually with metal handles. There is a lot less chancefor human error and machine errors. The pressure the machine cleans with is greater than our rider /scrubber so you geta cleaner mat. Burn's Supply is giving us back half the cost of the rider scrubberwhich is 3200 Plus they will pay half of the sales tax. The cost of the new machineis 7786 - 3200 4586 1/2 the sale tax is 284.34 our total cost 4870.34 .If any one would like additional information they can look at Pacific company'swebsite .The service we have received from Burns Supply has been outstanding .Terrie Brensinger andLillie Brensingerearned her canine good citizenaward under the greatteaching of Anna.Lori Deim and DIEMS MAGICAL STAR RI FCAT3 CGCU TKNJust got her FCAT 3 TITLE.Lori Deim and Buddah’s Braveheart Wildthing RA FDC CAXFCAT# SWN SCNE RATN CGCA CGCU TKA earned hisFCAT 3 Title.

Page 9 April 2021Sincere Sympathy to Melody & JohnBogdanoff on the loss of their belovedGolden Retriever “Bella”Member of the Obedience Club for many years diedsuddenly on March 16. She was just shy of 11 yearsof age. Bella completed several classes at the Clubover the years. She last participated in walking withthe Club at the 2018 Ormond Beach ChristmasParade. Bella was an adorable gift to everyone whomet her and she knew no stranger. She made us veryproud and was a credit to her breed and to this Club.We miss her greatly and will never forgetthe loved we all shared.Constance and Tom Yuschok welcome their10 week old Vizsla “Rembrandt” to ourfamily!! He wants to please and be liked, issmart, calm and cuddly.Chatter-BarksTo all my dog showing people!Something to think about next time you show,no matter what the venue is! Your dog getsabsolutely nothing out of being competitive foryou. Not a darn thing. Of course dogs arebred for specific jobs, or they’re bred to beathletic to a certain degree. They have no idea how much money is addedto the pot. They have no idea that this is aqualifier. They have no idea that this is theWorld. And DESPITE us. DESPITE ournerves, our flaws, our incorrect cues, ourhuge emotions, they get the job done to theirvery best ability. Even when we fail them byletting our emotions get in the way, they comeback and they try again, For US. Let that sinkin. If only we could all be so understanding. To think of an animal that is forgiving andflexible enough to put up with the repetition ofpractice, the intense nerves of the handler, the stress of hauling and they will still meetyou at the end of their lead ready to go isMIND BLOWING.If you haven’t done so lately. Thank your dogIf you’re successful, thank the dogs that putyou there and made you. Thank the dogs thatgave everything they had for you simplybecause you ASKED them to.If you’re still on the journey to success, thankthe dogs that made you fall in love with yoursport and who have helped give you theconfidence to want to learn moreand be better. We can never stop learning as dog men anddog women, and by continuing our education.Every dog in our future will be better off.Next time you head to the club, leave yourego at the door and “THANK” your dog!"
