in BriefHacettepe University was founded in 1967 as a State University.The expansion of the University has continued and reachedits current student capacity of 47,000 in 14 faculties. 14Graduate Schools, and Institutes, 5 Vocational School, StateConservatoire, with 46,920 students (39597 undergraduate and7323 graduate students) and 3568 teaching staff.The University has two main campuses: One is located indowntown Ankara and hosts the Medical Centre and the other,Beytepe campus, is located 13 km from the city centre.Beginning with its first establishment, Hacettepe University hasbeen radically reformist in its teaching policies by introducingnew programs and methodologies and still is one of theinnovative higher education institutions that never refrains fromintroducing daring innovative practices. Hacettepe University iscurrently developing its educational tools to meet the challengesof information and communication technology (ICT). TheUniversity ranks as the Turkish State University with the highestnational and international research publications in indexedand referred national and international journals, and has beenranked among the top 500 universities worldwide.Hacettepe University is not only devoted to the highest standardsin teaching and research as reflected in its motto “Advancementfor Excellence” but is a forward looking university in that itshapes its policies according to the demands of the future.1
Internationalisation and MobilityHacettepe University enjoys a high profile and is reputed for its work in a range ofdisciplines both nationally and internationally. We believe that the internationalorientation is a prerequisite for a university to survive in an increasingly globalenvironment. Mobility of students and teaching staff is seen as one of the most importantcomponents of the internationalisation process and is supported at all levels of theuniversity. In the Erasmus Programme, Hacettepe University has more than 500 bilateralagreements with higher education institutions in 28 European countries and 35 bilateralagreements from 14 different countries outside the EU. Hacettepe University sends andreceives over 600 students every year within EU mobility programmes with both EUprogramme countries and other partner institutions worldwide.
