Readersshould stand in numerical order in a horseshoe formation around the table atthe beginning of the reading. Lights should be dimmed. The tapered candleshould in the candlestick and held by the reader standing in the center (Reader3) of the horseshoe. However, be sure that readers can still see their lines (oralternately memorize them). Lines should be read with tone and pauses thatcoincide with the meaning of the phrases; avoid rushing lines. Readers 1, 2, 4,and 5 are holding one Congregation Candle each. “This One Light: A Candlelight S.COMReader 3: A new covenant!Reader 1: A fulfilled prophecy!Reader 5: (draw out phrase) An eternal hope!Reader 3 picks up candle and holds high.Reader 3: (pauses and speaking phrase with emphasis) This One Light.The next few lines are spoken with deliberateness with emphasis on the title orcharacter trait.Reader 2: Our Savior.Reader 4: He is Power.Reader 2: He is Grace.Reader 4: He is Love.Reader 3: He is Light.Reader 1: Wonderful Counselor.Reader 5: Prince of Peace.Reader 1: Almighty God.Reader 3: (pauses and phrase spoken with emphasis. Lowers candle back in frontof body in a natural position) This One Light.Reader 1: Three in One.Readers 2 and 4 turn candles toward Reader 3’s candle, light their candles together,and then return to original places. They hold their candles in front of their bodies.Reader 5: And One in Three.Reader 2: Light from Light.Reader 4: True God from True God.Reader 3: Christ, the everlasting Savior.Reader 2: Sent to Earth to shine His glory in a dark world.4

All Readers’ candles should now be lit and held in front of them.Reader 4: And share it with others like wildfire to diminish the night.Reader 3: Please join us as we sing “Silent Night” and light our candles from oneanother to show how God uses us to share Jesus, His One Light, with theworld.Readers start singing “Silent Night” as they exit the stage to use their candles to lightthose of the audience. Lights can be dimmed more during this part of the reading assafety permits and, if using, the words can be projected on a screen.5
