Its original formulation isattributed to the Great Assembly of Ezra’s time, with the introduction, conclusion, (and anineteenth blessing) being added later. It is also called the Amidah (Standing), as it is said ina standing position. Yeshua’s prayer instruction to His disciples follows this pattern (Matthew6:9-13).
