By Rabbi SaldingerTorahB’Simcha עקב רשי הקדש explains the first פסוק as follows. והיה עקב “ תשמעון if you will keep the מצות that are considered עקב .” What is an עקב , it is a heel.There are some מצות that we step on (with our עקב heel) We are not so careful in doing them properly.At times we might not care to do them, or we do the “ מצוה half-way,” without showing how important the מצוה is.The תורה is telling us that if we pushourselves to listen ( )תשמעון and do even these מצות ,then Hashem will bless us with the beautiful ברכות that are mentioned in this פרשה .B32 had a special breakfast in learning groups. In honor of thisweeks Parsha which has the Mitzvah of bentching, the boys weretreated to bagels for breakfast. Afterwards they bent her together,full filling the mitzva of ואכלת ושבעת וברכת .

LIVE REPORT!Week six was chock full of pump and geshmak! As the Nine Daysended, our excited SDC campers plunged into the crystal blue, coolingwaters of the most amazing pool in NYC!! Double the swim, doublethe cooling effect, double the fun! Especially exciting was seeing all thenew deep water bracelets earned by our campers. Our swim instructionprogram, led by our very own Mr. Eric Maslin, has helped our campersmake great strides (strokes?) in their swimming abilities!Tuesday brought tons of excitement to SDC as we witnessed a dropof Hashem's might. The hurricane strength winds of Isaiah couldn'tstop Dr. Shnitzel! Instead of giving shots and invasive tests, hechallenged campers to wild wacky experiments. The disappearing waterinto diapers, exploding ooze, and the large smoke rings were just someof what we all got to enjoy. The 10’s also joined the Juniors in theWorld’s most amazing Puppet Theater! The roars of laughter andinvolvement from the crowd said it all! We were all having a blast!Tuesday was also Israeli Day, with delicious falafel with pita! Therewere Israeli pumping tunes in the dining room, rocking Muchanim,Thank You Hashem and so many more, all with the original SDC lyrics.The conga line stretched across the dining room and the place was onwheels with the thump of the beat and huge energized smiles.On Wednesday we got to watch the tree crew cleaning up after thestorm and then it was into the pool for regular swim! NananananaThank you Hashem!Thursday was popping with Adar in August. Purim is too muchfun to celebrate only once a year. So many cool and original costumescame streaming into camp and of course dancing to the Purim music.Rabbi Elmo wanted to be the Hamantash Monster because cookiescan't match the flavor of a hamantash! The MIDs even got a chance tohave their faces painted by Rabbi Sokol! Go SDC!When the head staff have a chance to stop all their hard work andget involved in a sports game, it brings a new level of Simcha! A closegame with Bunk 42 ended with a camper victory and a ton of ruach.It's a good thing the Division Heads learned how to be good sportsin SDC! Wowowow.can't believe it's been another week!Where to even begin!?!?Perhaps we can start with Gavriel Koenig's unreal highlightfrom 3rd base? Or should we talk about Dyckmancatching the football after 20 other people bobbled it?Or Ari Moller getting his cast off to reassert his dominance?As you can see, the week has been ridiculously packed with actionbetween leagues, general sports, swimming, late night.The CIT’s are like a hurricane ripping through camp!Oh wait, there was an ACTUAL hurricane that rippedthrough camp.huh!
