Deadline to enter a team is November 14. The rules are as follows:1) 4-H teams must notify the Extension Office of their intent to participate byNovember 14, 5 pm.2) Each 4-H Club is invited to participate with one team consisting of (2-6) 4-Hmembers in the Chili with Beans category and one team in the Chili withoutBeans category. (You may have only one team or two different teams with oneteam in each category. Parents should not help make the chili.)3) If a club wishes to make HOMEMADE cornbread (brought already baked-ready to eat) to compete with, there will be a BEST CORNBREAD CONTEST. (Thehomemade cornbread is to be made by the 4-H youth.) Bring your recipe withyour pan of cornbread.Display CaseNovember — WardaDecember — Swiss AlpJanuary — Pure CountryFebruary — RTCMarch — SchulenburgApril — FayettevilleMay — FlatoniaJune — La GrangeJuly — WinchesterAugust — Shooting Sports4) Three (3) lbs. of hamburger meat will be provided for each chili team. Allother ingredients and equipment should be brought by 4-H families (i.e. hotplates, spoons, spices, etc.) Chili should be ready to be judged at 7:00 p.m.when the Fayette 4-H Council meeting and chili cook-off judging will take place.The doors will be open at 4:00 p.m. for teams to begin setting up. Meat will behanded out at 5:00 pm for cooking to begin.5) Awards will be provided for Best Chili with Beans, Best Chili without Beansand Best Cornbread. NEW!!! The 1st place chili teams will receive a 25check for their club.6) Anyone may attend the Chili Cook-off and the 4-H Council meeting that willbegin at 7 p.m. while the judging is taking place. The winners of the contest willbe announced at the conclusion of the Council meeting. New and experienced 4H members and families are invited to participate. Topics / Activitieswill include Fashion StoryBoard, making a skirt, community service projects, fashiondesign, personal care, etc. Thecost is 10 for both days.Please RSVP by December 12.The Fayette County Food Showwill take place on Saturday, October 29 at the Church of Christin La Grange, starting at 9 am.Not interested in the individualcompetition. Crossroads is a three day career development, leadership program for 1419 year olds to participate in various projects that will impact lifeskills and help them in career exploration. After the event, futureleaders return to counties with theskills to cooperate with each otherto achieve individual and groupgoals.Career Topics will include MarineScience, Culinary, Vet Science, LawEnforcement and Sports Medicine.The deadline to register via 4-HConnect is October 24. HappyReading!Member Accomplishments4-H Members Participate at Washington County FairThe Fayette County 4-H Dairy Judging Teams competed in the Dairy Judging Contest on Saturday, September 17, 2011. The Senior Team placed 1st overall. Team members were Dillan Drabek, Allison Frerichs and Dakota Zapalac. Individually Dakota was 2nd high and Allison was 4thhigh.The Intermediate Team placed 4th overall. Team members consisted of Heather Matula, ErinMiksch, and Emily Miksch. Individually Erin was 2nd high.Individually Kaylie Zapalac judged as a junior and was 1st high individual.The Fayette County 4H livestock judging teams competed on Saturday September 17th. The intermediate team placed fifth overall of the 40 teams competing in their age group. The teamplaced fifth in the beef division, first in the swine division and fifth in the sheep and goats division. Team members were Greg Matocha, Haley Bertsch, Sierra Schulz and Madisyn Horndt.Greg Matocha was 8th overall and Haley was 11th.The Junior team placed first overall of the 21 teams competing in the junior division.There were 62 individuals competing in the junior contest. Individually, Emily placed thirdoverall, Nicholas placed 12th overall, and Philip placed 15th overall.
