CSABUFFALOCommunity-supported agriculture (CSA;sometimes known as community-sharedagriculture) is an alternative, locally basedeconomic model of agriculture and fooddistribution. A CSA also refers to a particularnetwork or association of individuals who havepledged to support one or more local farms, with growers and consumers sharing the risksand benefits of food production. CSA members,or subscribers, pay at the onset of the growingseason for a share of the anticipated harvest;once harvesting begins, they periodically receiveshares of produce. In addition to produce, some CSA services may include additionalfarm products like honey, eggs, dairy, fruit, flowers and meat. Some CSAs provide forcontributions of labor in lieu of a portion ofsubscription costs. CSAs often offer morediversity than supermarkets, and may includerecipes or cooking tips for unusual vegetables. They may offer varieties which taste better butwould not hold up to the shipping and storagerequirements of industrial agriculture. Theselocal farms are also better for the environmentand for farm workers, lessening or eliminatingtransportation costs and environmentalhazards inherent in larger, more remoteconventional operations.Chatham Preservation FarmBuffalo, .comchathampreservationfarm.comChicken, CSA – Community Supported AgFarm, Dairy Products (Goat), Plants, Turkey. We focus on feeding people wholesome food raisedwith sustainable methods all while preserving rarebreeds and seeds.
