Clothbound Hardcover SpecsThis is a clothbound hardcover book. The type is foil stamped onto the chosenmaterial (fabric or imitation leather). It is glued and wrapped around a hardcoverboard. The endsheet is glued to the wrapped board. There are two methods for thefoil stamping:Method 1: Ludlow type (See type choices starting on page 3 )The least expensive method. Our hardcover bindery has a very old machine for casting type from matrices set by hand,called a Ludlow machine. The machine has a set number of typefaces and sizes to choose from. Note: Very fine lines and texturescannot be reproduced well. Themetal piece will be stamped veryhard against the material, andfine detail is difficult to adhereto the textured material.Method 2: Metal DieThe more expensive option is to have a custom metal diemade. It costs extra to make the die (price is per square inch),but it gives you the opportunity to use graphics and your owntypefaces in the design.
