PREFACEThe graduate program in nursing at the University of Missouri is part of the Graduate School at the University. Thishandbook was developed for students and faculty advisors to define the philosophy and mission of the graduateprogram and to provide a comprehensive document about the doctor of nursing practice, Master of Science, and postmaster certificate programs in nursing. SECTION I: INTRODUCTIONThe University of MissouriThe University of Missouri system includes campuses in Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla, and St. Louis with a totalenrollment of over 75,000 students. Founded in 1839, the University of Missouri (MU) is the oldest and largest of theUniversity's four campuses and the first state university west of the Mississippi.
