GO SLOW:INTRODUCINGYOUR CAT TORAW NUTRITIONDr. Marty’s ‘Easy Transition’ PlanFollow these instructions at every meal:If your cat is new toNature’s Feast, it maytake their body a littletime to adjust to its densenutritional content — thisis perfectly normal.(After all, going from “fastfood” to fresh healthymeals can be a bit of a gutshock at first!)So, to avoid overwhelmingyour cat’s digestive systemwith too many newnutrients all at once, youshould wean them ontoNature’s Feast gradually.2DAY 1-3:Replace 25% ofyour cat’s old foodwith Nature’s Feast.Combine evenly inbowl before serving.DAY 4-6:Replace 50% ofyour cat’s old foodwith Nature’s Feast.Combine evenly inbowl before serving.

Note:You can use a measuringcup or scale to get theexact proportions — butit’s not necessary. Youcan usually get it rightjust by eyeballing them.Yes, you can serve Nature’sFeast either wet or dry —and combine with both wetand dry food!DAY 7-9:Replace 75% ofyour cat’s old foodwith Nature’s Feast.Combine evenly inbowl before serving.DAY 10:Serve your kitty abowl of 100% Nature’sFeast! (See the page4 to determine theproper amount perserving.)3

HOW MUCH SHOULDYOUR CAT EAT?Once your cat is fully weaned onto Nature’sFeast, use this guide to determine how muchto give them per day.FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONWeight of Cat5 lbs7 lbs10 lbs12 lbs15 lbs17 lbs20 lbsRECOMMENDEDFEEDING SCHEDULEFor a healthy, adult cat: split the daily amountinto 2 servings — feed them one in the morning, and one in the evening. For kittens, I recommend talking to your vetabout specific feeding guidelines.4

EASY PREP: FROM FREEZE-DRIED TO FRESH IN MINUTES1Place the desired amountof freeze-dried food into anon-toxic, heat-safe dish.2Break pieces apart with afork. Add warm water.3Allow water to soakinto Nature’s Feast for 3minutes. Then gently mixwith a spoon, until textureis consistent.Note: The recommended food-to-water ratio is 2 to 1. However, Nature’s Feast can be servedat any consistency, so feel to free modify the amount of water as needed. (For example, ifyour kitty is used to dry food, you may serve Nature’s Feast completely dry as well.)5

WHAT TO EXPECTWHEN MAKINGTHE SWITCHThere’s a good chance yourkitty will take to Nature’sFeast almost instantly. But,because every cat adapts tochange differently, let’s goover some potential issuesyou may encounter duringthe first few days.6Refusing to eat: Cats are natural-born meat lovers. But,when they’re fed mostly kibble, they tend to get hookedon the processed carbohydrates in it — which can makethem reluctant to eat anything else (no matter how meatyand delectable). So, if your kitty doesn’t dig into Nature’sFeast right away, don’t take it personally! They just need alittle time to get used to it.What to Do: To help “reawaken” your cat’s carnivorousinstincts, I recommend breaking Nature’s Feast up intosmall pieces before serving. This will help to release moreof that fresh meaty scent cats naturally crave. (You canalso moisten Nature’s Feast with bit of warm bone broth,to make its meaty fragrance even more potent!)Digestive Problems: If you notice vomiting or unusualpoops, don’t be alarmed. While not all cats experiencethese tummy troubles, they’re not uncommon — andtypically just mean their body is “detoxing” from their oldfood. In most cases, their digestion will normalize within2-3 days (just make sure to give your cat extra drinkingwater during this time, so they don’t get dehydrated). Ifthese side effects do not resolve themselves quickly, oryou notice any other strange behavior from your cat, youshould consult your veterinarian right away, as there maybe another issue at hand.

What to Do: My 10-day transition plan can helpminimize these issues for most cats. However, ifyou don’t see steady improvement, you can alsocustomize the plan as needed. (In most cases, simply adding SMALLER amounts of Nature’sFeast over a LONGER period should do the trick.)Remember, you have a full 90 days to tryNature’s Feast risk-free before deciding if it’sright for your cat — so feel free to let them adjustat their own pace. Once you start seeing theresults, you’ll be glad you stuck with it!For additional pointers, be sure to read my list of‘Expert Tips’ on page 8!7

DR. MARTY’S EXPERT TIPSHold the water! If your cat doesn’t like their food moist, try servingNature’s Feast dry. It’s just as nutritious in its freeze-dried form, sothere’s no reason not to customize it to your kitty’s preference. Justmake sure your cat has a fresh water supply.Make the water warm (but not hot). If you DO use water, the addedwarmth will help promote even better digestion, and make for a richertasting meal. Also, I advise using filtered water whenever possible. Notonly is it just a healthier choice in general, it’ll also keep any minerals inyour tap from altering the food’s taste.Break it up! To make Nature’s Feast even more appealing, I recommendusing a fork to break up the morsels into smaller pieces (whether you’reserving it wet or dry). This will help to release its meaty scent and flavor, while also making it easier for your kitty to scarf down!Consistency counts. Try to feed your cat at the same time every morningand evening. This will help them digest all those nutrients more efficiently,so they get the most out of every bite!8

Pick the right dish. You should always avoidplastic dishes as they often contain harmfulchemicals. But what’s the best kind to use?Well, a heavy glass dish would be my first choice, followed by quality stainless steel. Ceramicdishes can be okay as well, but only if they havea non-toxic, lead-free glaze — so if you’re notsure about their coating, it’s best to steer clear.“Who’s a good kitty?!” As your cat adjusts totheir new diet, positive reinforcement is key. Besure to reward them with verbal praise, petting,or even a healthy treat after they’ve eaten. Thiswill encourage them to keep cleaning their plate!Hurray! Now you’re ready to get started.Welcome to the Nature’s Feast family — andbon appétit!9
