THE PURPOSEDisciple-Making DefinitionALLEN HADIDIAN:"Discipling others is the process by which a Christianwith a life worth emulating commits himself for anextended period of time to a few individuals who havebeen won to Christ, the purpose being to aid and guidetheir growth to maturity and to equip them to reproduceinto a third spiritual generation."
THE PURPOSESEMINAR DESCRIPTION:“The ultimate purpose of discipleship is to turn our disciples intodisciple making reproducers who multiply their life into third andfourth generations. The problem is, most of us either stop aftersomeone makes a profession of faith or some of us will evenhelp someone learn how to study the Bible and pray but few ofus actually help someone get to the point where they are able tomultiply their life into another individual. Come to this seminar tolearn disciple-making principles that will help us reach the worldthrough multiplying movements of disciple-making reproducers.”
THE PROBLEM
THE PROBLEMDisciple-Making DefinitionTHE PROBLEM IS Most disciple-makers do not fulfill the purpose of discipleship The maturity of the disciple is overlooked (Col. 1:28-29) The process of equipping (2 Tim. 2:2) them to reproduceinto a third spiritual generation is never begun.
THE PROBLEMWHY DOES THIS PROBLEM EXIST?We get excited about the wrong thingsWe trust in the wrong things
THE PROBLEMDisciple-Making QuotesROBERT COLEMAN:"Here is where we must begin just like Jesus. It will beslow, tedious, painful, and probably unnoticed by men atfirst, but the end result will be glorious, even if we don’t liveto see it. Seen this way, though, it becomes a big decisionin the ministry. One must decide where he wants hisministry to count — in the momentary applause of popularrecognition or in the reproduction of his life in a few chosenmen who will carry on his work after he as gone. Really itis a question of which generation we are living for."
THE PROBLEMDisciple-Making QuotesROBERT COLEMAN:"Jesus devoted most of His remaining life on earth to these fewdisciples. He literally staked His whole ministry upon them. Why? Why did Jesus deliberately concentrate His life uponcomparatively so few people? Had he not come to save the world? The answer to this question focuses at once the real purpose ofHis plan for evangelism. Jesus was not trying to impress thecrowd, but to usher in a Kingdom. This meant that He needed menwho could lead the multitudes. What good would it have been forHis ultimate objective to arouse the masses to follow Him if thesepeople had no subsequent supervision nor instruction in the Way?"
