Social Media and its impact on today’spolicing will be examined. Identify obstacles or hurdles that we may face in the community we serve.ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAININGThis 16 hour class combines lecture with practical’s and scenario development to provide the studentswith the ability, skill and knowledge to understand the active shooter, real time intelligence andappropriate response.ADULT SEX CRIMES INVESTIGATIONSThis 40-hour course will provide an overview of sex crimes investigation for the officer and investigatorwith limited experience in this area, and an understanding of the problematic, legal, investigative, andevidentiary aspects of sex crimes.ADVANCED ENERGY DAMAGE SPEED AND MEASURING PROTOCOLIn this 40 hour class the student will learn to investigate and analyze traffic crashes utilizing energy anddamage methods. Familiar energy equations will be reviewed and examined. Topics covered will includedelta-V, damage momentum, crush, and energy. Projects will provide the student with examples ofexamining and measuring crash vehicles. These measurements will be used in energy analysis and speeddetermination from damage. This course will help the student become more comfortable in using energybased methods in analysis, and understand the science that computer based “crash” programs rely upon.The prospective student for this course should have a firm understanding of topics involved in traffic crashreconstruction to include conservation of linear momentum and good basic math skills. Prerequisiteshould include at least: Basic THI (80 hrs.), Advanced THI (80 hrs.) & THI Reconstruction (80 hrs.)ADVANCED NARCOTICS IDENTIFICATION AND INVESTIGATIONA continuation of the Narcotics ID course. This 40 hour program will enhance the investigative andanalytical skills of the student as well as enlighten the student regarding advanced topics in narcoticsenforcement and new trends in drug abuse, such as club and “date rape” drugs.ADVANCED REPORT WRITING AND REVIEWAt the completion of this 40-hour course, participants will be able to write and review standard narrativereports. Participants will write in a direct style that can easily be interpreted by a supervisor of stateattorney. Emphasis will be placed upon specificity, accuracy, the use of grammar, the importance ofspelling and the use of punctuation.ADVANCED STREET GANGSThis 40-hour course conducts an advanced examination of street gang investigations. Designed for officerswho already possess basic street gang knowledge, this program offers you an in-depth study of nationalgang structures, intelligence gathering, advanced graffiti analysis, interviewing tactics and officer survivalskills.You will learn how gangs recruit new members and how to utilize the various national programs availablethat are designed to prevent gang membership. You will see what to look for in a shooting or other assaultthat may indicate if it was drug-related, an initiation, a turf war or other gang activity. ADVANCED S.W.A.T. OPERATOR COURSEThe 40-hour Advanced SWAT Operator Course is designed to enhance a qualified SWAT operator’sproficiency in a tactical environment. Throughout this training, the operator’s abilities will be testedthrough practical skill-building exercises and examinations. Students must bring their issued tactical gearincluding vest, helmet, rifle, pistol, duty belt, NVG’s (if available), gas mask, eye/ear protection, Simunitionrifle/pistol or conversion kit. Students will also be required to provide the following munitions: 1500rounds of handgun ammo; 1500 rounds of rifle ammo; 300 rounds of Simunition or similar ammo.ADVANCED INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING OFFENSESThis class will provide a framework for initiating and conducting investigations of humantrafficking offenses to include, the nature and scope of human trafficking, the unique victim-centeredapproach, the multi-jurisdictional nature of a human trafficking investigation; and working collaborativelywith Non-Governmental Organizations towards successful prosecution, rescue and restoration of thevictim, and community awareness.ADVANCED ROADSIDE IMPAIRED DRIVING ENFORCEMENTThis 16 hour course is intended to bridge the gap between the SFST and DRE courses. You will learn howto observe, identify and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs, Alcohol or a combination ofboth. You will be given an overview of the seven types of drug categories and the effects these drugs haveon the human body. You will learn medical conditions and other situations that can produce similar signsof impairment. You will receive the latest updates in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing as well as thelegal issues associated with impaired driving, pre- and post-arrest procedures.ADVANCED TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONThis 80 hour course is designed to provide the police traffic investigator with additional skills and abilitiesto perform in-depth accident investigations and to gain an insight into the interpretation of physicalevidence at the scene of an accident.Although not a requirement, it is strongly suggested that participants have completed the Traffic HomicideInvestigation course.AGENCY INSPECTORIn this 24 hour class the student will learn the role of an Agency Inspector as it relates to ensuringevidentiary breath test instruments are providing accurate and reliable results .AGENCY INSPECTOR RENEWAL COURSEThis 8 hour course meets the requirements for periodic testing of agency inspectors holding permits toconduct agency inspections of the Intoxilyzer 5000 and 8000. The course is held under the auspices ofFDLE with an examination required.ANIMAL CRIMES INVESTIGATINOS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERSThis eight hour course is designed to introduce law enforcement officers to the different aspects of animalcrimes and the investigations of these crimes. It is a practical course which will familiarize roadofficers/deputies and detectives with animal crimes and the investigation of these crimes.AUTISM AND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPONSEThis 8 hour course will provide you with a basic understanding of autism and how individuals with autismbehave, communicate and react in various situations. Furthermore, it will address high risk and crisisincidents and provide you with tips and strategies to diffuse and deescalate the situation. AUTO THEFT FOR PATROL OFFICERSThis eight hour course is designed to educate uniform officers on auto theft related investigations. Thiscourse provides a general overview of the problem and practical knowledge that will assist officers inaddressing the problems related to auto thefts, vehicle identification, temporary tags and Florida Statutes.It also discusses how the auto theft obtains and masks stolen vehicles and will enable them to combat theauto theft related crimes in the tri-county area; but can be used by any police department in Florida.AVOIDING AND DEALING WITH CITIZEN COMPLAINTSIn this 8 hour course the student will understand why complaints occur, identify strategies that help avoidand deal with complaints, and how to handle complaints that won’t go away.BASIC FIREARMS FUNDAMENTALSThis 4-hour course is designed to provide basic fundamentals of shooting. Students will practice thesefundamentals to improve their shooting skills.BREATH TEST OPERATOR RENEWALThis 8-hour course meets the requirements for periodic retraining of those holding a permit to conductchemical test using the Intoxilyzer 5000 and 8000. This course meets all FDLE requirements.Participants must bring their current Breath Test Operator’s Permit to class.BREATH TEST OPERATORThis 16 hour course provides the participant with the necessary skills and knowledge for a license toconduct chemical tests for sobriety. The basic instrument is the Intoxilyzer 8000 and the requiredexamination will be administered at the course conclusion.BUILDING AND MAINTANING A SOUND BEHAVIORAL CLIMATEThis 40-hour course is designed to acquaint the criminal justice officer with theoretical concepts andpractical techniques that positively influence the behavioral climate within organizations. Providingpotential managers with knowledge of the characteristics and the factors influencing the maintenance of asound behavioral climate.CASE PREPARATION AND COURT PRESENTATIONThis 40 hour course prepares the student for presentation of a case in court. Emphasis will be placed onproper case documentation and actual courtroom presentation skills. Students will have the opportunityto practice their skills, in a mock testimony.CHALLENGES FACING CRIMINAL JUTICE LEADERS/SUPERVISORS – TRAININGMILLENNIALS, IMPROVING ACCOUNTABIILTY AND PREPARING FOR THE FUTUREThis two day class is a fast-moving workshop that will help you to greatly improve yourunderstanding, communication skills, and training and teaching techniques and practices. Thisclass will provide tools needed to identify and address a diverse workforce, including differinglearners and millennials. As a supervisor and leader, you learn effective and innovativeapproaches for dramatically improving team and organizational accountability. CHILD SEX CRIMES INVESTIGATIONSThis 40-hour course will provide officers with the advanced skills necessary to investigate crimesagainst children. Topics covered will include Sexual Exploitation, Investigations, InterviewingOffenders, Physical Abuse, Child Homicides, Interviewing the Child, Investigating FalseAllegations and Florida Laws.CMS DEFENSIVE TACTICS INSTRUCTORThis 80 hour course is the approved requisite for CJSTC certification as a defensive tactics instructor.Topics covered will include legal issues, facility development and management, motor skill learning andteaching, performance under stress, evaluation techniques and the basic recruit curriculum. Eachparticipant must successfully complete all the rigorous exercise in the basic recruit academy.Prerequisite: Completion of the CMS Instructor Techniques or CMS Instructor Transition Course.Submit registration form accompanied by agency letter confirming prerequisite is met.CMS DRIVING INSTRUCTORThis 40 hour course is requisite to CJSTC certification as a Driving Instructor. Participants will be able todevelop and present an effective driving program for their agency. Content and participant success isbased on the basic police academy curriculum standards and includes cornering, steering, controlledbacking and stopping.Prerequisite: Completion of the CMS Instructor Techniques or CMS Instructor Transition Course.Submit registration form accompanied by agency letter confirming prerequisite is met.CMS FIREARMS INSTRUCTORThis 44 hour course is requisite for CJSTC certification as Firearms Instructor. Topics include legalissues, range management, basic shooting principles, shooting deficiency, equipment familiarization,survival considerations and practical exercises. Participants must qualify by the shooting standards of thebasic police academy. Participants must furnish their agency approved handgun, loading devices and gunbelt accessories.CMS FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR COURSEThis 40 hour course is based on the premise that the primary objective of the criminal justice basic recruitFirst Aid instructor is to teach recruits their responsibilities for safe and effective response to an emergencymedical situation.CONDUCTING BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONSIn this 40 hour class the student will analyze the information provided by the applicant along withsupporting documentation and appropriate interviews to determine any discrepancies or disqualificationsin order to prepare a final report for presentation to management.
