Early College ProgramIn Partnership withLos Angeles Mission CollegeWhat is the NVMI Early Education College Program?Students enroll in classes that count for BOTH high school graduationand college graduation. In other words, a single course gives them DOUBLE Credit.How much does it cost?All courses and textbooks are FREE. There is no cost to students.What grades/age levels can participate?All grade levels (including middle school) can participate as long as parents, the schooladministration, and the student believe the student can be successful in a rigorouscollege level course that requires college level reading and writing skills.

Entrance Camp(Rolling Camp)Entrance Camp is designed to help prospective students understand how NVMI worksand to prepare them for success. NVMI is purposely rigorous, disciplined andstructured, all to support our mission of sending our graduates to 4-year colleges anduniversities. To help students adapt and become a part of the NVMI community.Entrance Camp establishes rigorous standards and expects students to meet them.Entrance camp is part of the enrollment process.Every student that applies for NVMI is considered a CANDIDATE.CANDIDATES that complete entrance camp become PLEDGES.PLEDGES will strive to become a Cadet for several weeks to earntheir Class B and PT uniform.

Entrance CampIf your child is enrolling to start school in August for 1st semesterSummer Entrance camp will happen 3 weeks in August.If your child is enrolling to start school for 2nd semesterWinter Entrance camp will be scheduled in the month of January.Rolling campIf your child is enrolling when school is already in session,your child will need to participate in rolling camp.Rolling camp is scheduled 1 hour after school Monday through Thursday and8 consecutive Saturdays 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

NVMI Uniform PolicyNVMI expects cadets to wear the complete and proper uniform from the timethey leave their homes in the morning, until the time they return to theirhomes after school hours, except in cases where a cadet changes for schoolsponsored athletic practices or games. Cadets are held accountable for theirappearance and conduct both on and off campus when in uniform. NVMIcadets represent themselves and the Institute at all times and are expected todo so with pride and integrity.

Citizenship ExpectationsCITIZENSHIP refers to how you act and behave at NVMI.This is tracked through our Merit/Demerit SystemMERITSAre earned by doing good things above and beyondthe standard expectations.Demerits:Are used to track inappropriate or unacceptable behavior.

How do merits and demerits workMerits .10 centsMerits can be used to purchase uniforms,camping trips, planners, ID’s and prizes at the end of the year.Active DemeritsMust go away every week either by going to detention on Fridayto remove them (15 min per demerit)or use four merits which will remove one active demerit.Permanent demeritsPermanent demerits do not go away.Only 10 permanent demerits are allowed per quarter.There are two quarters per semester.

Anti-BullyingWe have recently implemented - Speak Up!, an anonymous anti-bullying monitoringand management platform enabling students, parents and community members toreport bullying and cyber-bullying incidents. This two-way communication system iscompletely anonymous, masking your phone number and contact information toschool administrators receiving the message.When a message is received, the school will be alerted and able to respond. Pleasedo not be alarmed when you receive a response, as the messaging system masks thephone number while still allowing for two-way communication.
