Stanford also provides theopportunity for qualified high school students to enroll in college-credit courses throughStanford Summer Session.Our instructional teams are experts in their fields and eager to share their enthusiasm for theirsubjects and their love of teaching. Our CoursesNot for credit or grade, our courses provide in-depth and interactive explorationof advanced topics. Our instructors design custom courses that provide adeep dive into their areas of expertise and highlight new areas of research. Ourcourses feature content more typically found in a college curriculum. Student Life & CommunityThe Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes integrates academics and socialactivities into every aspect of the program. Students live in residence withclassmates attending the same course and interact daily with other studentswho share their interests and academic passions.The program includes outdoor recreational activities that offer students theopportunity to exercise, socialize, make friends, and have fun. Activities aredesigned for a variety of interests. Stanford Summer Humanities InstituteIn this three-week residential program, rising high school juniors and seniorsexplore the big questions at the heart of the humanities in seminars led bydistinguished Stanford professors. Grades10–11Students spend the first two weeks intensively studying and researching a topic inhistory, literature, or philosophy; attending daily lectures by the faculty members;and participating in group discussions and activities in the afternoon. Stanford Summer Arts InstituteStudents come together for a three-week intensive arts residential programoffering academically challenging, interdisciplinary courses inarchitecture, visual design, and music. Grades9–11Immerse yourself in interdisciplinary study at the intersection of art andacademia in the heart of Silicon Valley. Stanford University Mathematics CampStanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) welcomes an elite groupof talented rising high school juniors and seniors from around the world forintensive study in advanced mathematics. Grades10–11The Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) leads students on a journeyin advanced mathematics through lectures, guided research, and group problemsolving. In a social environment centered on mathematics, students explorecurrent lines of mathematical research, the historical development of importantareas of mathematics, and applications across scientific disciplines.Meet ProfessorOlga Russakovsky“SUMaC jump-started my career.I majored in Math at Stanford, got aPh.D. in Computer Science and became aprofessor in AI. Stanford Medical Youth Science ProgramStanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP) offers a five-weekbiomedical enrichment program for academically talented, low-income,and underrepresented minority students. Grades10–11High school sophomores and juniors from select Northern and Central Californiacounties are invited to apply. The twenty-four students admitted annuallywork closely with Stanford faculty, researchers, students, and health careprofessionals. Stanford Artificial IntelligenceLaboratory Outreach Summer ProgramThe Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory partners with StanfordPre-Collegiate Studies, to offer a three-week summer residentialprogram aimed at increasing the number of women in science. Grade 9The Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory’s Outreach Summer Program(SAILORS) exposes students to the field of Artificial Intelligence. Students learnabout cutting-edge research, work as teams to develop novel applications,and explore the social impact of AI. Stanford Sports Business AcademyA summer two-week residential program that explores the excitingintersection of sports and business. The Stanford Sports Business Academyprovides a glimpse into professional sports in the Bay Area. Grades10–11The Stanford Sports Business Academy gives students an overview of careersin the sports and entertainment industries, with a focus on management, law,negotiation, marketing, and leadership. MathCircles are guided by mathematicians, educators, andscholars from the Stanford community.20Stanford Pre-Collegiate StudiesStanfordScience CircleStanford Science Circle offers middle and highschool students the opportunity to explore the vastand exciting world of science.
