STATE-OF-THE-ARTRUBBER TECHNOLOGYAVK Gummi develops andmanufactures the rubbercompound for wedgesand gaskets using highlyadvanced technology.Impurities in the medium being carried willnot affect the rubber surface or the tightnessof the valve as they will be absorbed in therubber when the valve is in the closed position.When the valve is reopened the impurities willbe flushed away and the rubber will regain itsshape.Unlike most manufacturers of resilient seat gatevalves, AVK has it’s own in house manufacturerof rubber components, AVK GUMMI A/S. AVKGummi develops and manufactures the rubbercompound for wedges and gaskets usinghighly advanced technology. Data is collectedthroughout the entire manufacturing processwhich provides traceability of every individualingredient, each compound and the finalisedcomponents. HIGH STRENGTH AND LOWOPERATING TORQUESStainless steel stems withwedge stop and rolledthreads.1 The wedge stop (1) provides a firm stopagainst the wedge nut when openingthe valve. This prevents the wedge fromcompressing the stem seals and damagingthe coating inside the bonnet prolongingthe durability of the valve. The stem threads (2) are rolled in a coldpressing process which maintains thesteel structure and therefore increases thestrength of the stem. The impact resistance of the coating is tested by droppinga steel cylinder on the coating surface through a one meter long tube. Thecuring of the epoxy coating is checked in an adhesive disbondment (v cut)test.
