THE LAW OF GRATITUDEBy Sri Harold KlempOne who is thankful for every goodthing will find the richness of heaven.The Law of Gratitude states simply thatabundance flourishes in a grateful heart.Gratitude appears in subtle ways. Once Iwent to a schoolroom on the inner spiritualplanes to watch children being taughtarithmetic. The teacher asked a bright-eyedboy, “If you had one tomato and needed ten,how many more would you have to buy?”The boy thought a moment then said, “None!I’d cut open my tomato, plant the seeds, andgrow many tomatoes.” The teacher, impressed by the boy’s ingenuity, accepted theanswer. The boy had an appreciation for lifethat let him view it more fully than others.The point is that creative people whocherish the gift of life often slip into thesecret chambers of the creative mind. Theirsolutions are well-rounded, more sensible

than those of people whorely solely upon reason astheir mainstay.Gratitude unseals fountainsof creativity, because agrateful person is relaxed.This allows him to takestock of his circumstanceswith an objective mind.T RY THIS :H AVE APROBLEM , NEEDAN ANSWER ?F OCUS FIRST ONSOMETHING YOUARE TRULYGRATEFUL FOR .T HENLISTEN .Like the boy in the story, a creative personoften gets three-dimensional answers tohis problems. So creativity, bountifulness,and gratitude go hand in hand.Divine Spirit will give us all we need. First we must learn to expect the best inlife, and be willing to plan and work for it. Second, we need a clear mental pictureof what we desire. Third, this picture is to be maintainedconstantly, with the certainty that Spiritwill supply any rightful desire. Fourth, there must be gratitude forevery good thing received.

Gratitude for gifts we have already receivedsets into motion new forces that sustain alife of fullness. A grateful person usuallyfinds the windows of spiritual opportunityopen to him.One who is thankful for every good thingwill find the richness of heaven in thehumblest detail of his spiritual life.The window of gratitude opens us to theheavens of God. }“Abundance flourishes in a gratefulheart. Gratitude is the secret of love.Sri Harold Klemp

T RYAS PIRITUAL E XERCISEGRACE, BALANCE, GRATITUDEBy Sri Harold KlempEverything in the right amount brings anabundance of life and fulfillment. Everything is right when there is neither toomuch nor too little for the time and place.So is it also with your spiritual life.Give yourself time for rest and contemplation. Eat foods that are good for you, becausethey build and restore the temple whereSoul resides.Accept your emotions. Permit your mind tostudy, explore, and grow.Love God. Give thanks for life, for it blessesyou with revelations.Life gives and takes, but always givesagain. Be thankful for wisdom, be gratefulfor existence. This world and the things in

it are for exploration, study, and joy. Thereis a plan to living; there is order.Love, and let God love you.Sing HU softly, and let your gratitude for allthat has ever brought you love bloom inyour heart. }How to Sing HUWith eyes open or shut, take a few deepbreaths to relax. Then begin to sing HU(pronounced like the word hue) in a long,drawn-out sound: HU-U-U-U. Take anotherbreath, and sing HU again. You can continuefor up to twenty minutes.Sing HU with a feeling of love, and it willgradually open your heart to God.HUSacred Sound—Ancient Mantra

DID YOU KNOW?“Sincere gratitude is a formof worship.As you go through your day, consciouslylook for at least three things you have neverexpressed gratitude for.Pause and give whatever it is, or whoever it is,your full attention and appreciation.In so doing, you are accepting more of God’slove.Sri Harold Klemp

“YOU’RE WELCOME”Giving and receiving are opposite sides ofthe same coin.By Deena WolfsonSome years ago I opened my home toanother member of Eckankar. She hadcome to Chicago to undergo major surgery. I happened to have space in myhome, so I invited her to stay with me whileshe recovered. We became close friends.Since that time, whenever we see eachother, she always tries to thank me, saying,“I can’t believe this stranger opened herhome to me.”I have always had difficulty acceptingexpressions of gratitude, because it seemsas if I’m patting myself on the back. So I’dshrug off her comments with, “No, no, that’sfine. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”In doing that, I would justpush my friend’s gratitudeaway.

That is, until recently when she and I weretalking. I suddenly realized that in denyingher the gift of showing me gratitude, I mayhave been letting her feelshe owed a debt she couldH OW EASILYnot repay. I asked herDO YOUto please forgive meACCEPT LOVE ?and told her quite simply,“You’re welcome.”I remember her gentle and loving smile.We both acknowledged the role of the ECKin all this. I am more grateful for this lessonthan words can express.Giving and receiving are opposite sides ofthe same coin. }“To receive love sounds easyenough, but many people have ahard time accepting it from others.Sri Harold Klemp

SOUL ADVENTURE QUESTIONSFOR SRI HAROLDHow can I keep my heartopen when life seems so hard?I want to feel more love, lessstress and worry. I am asking sincerely.The power of gratitude opens the heart toallow love to enter. But once the lovecomes in and we receive the gifts of Spiritand of life, the way to keep the gifts flowingis through an ongoing spirit of gratitude.People are usually too busy counting thethings they don’t have. They notice howmuch more money their neighbor has, howmuch further ahead in spiritual unfoldmentsomeone else is, and so on.I S THERESOMETHINGBut if we stop to count ourIN YOUR LIFEblessings, to realize howASKING FORmuch we do have and beYOURgrateful for it, then theGRATITUDE ?heart is kept open to loveand all the gifts that love brings.

I wish there were some easytechnique I could give you tofeel gratitude. There aretimes when it will seemdifficult, but it’s really assimple as appreciatingwhat you have in your life.L ETSOMEONEHEAR THELOVE INYOUR HEART .If there is someone you love, let thatperson know how you feel. Say thank youto your mate or your child even when youdon’t feel well.If you can just stop and be gratefulfor the blessings before you,your heart will open to love.Then the blessings cankeep coming. }
