Genesis111In the beginning God created theheavens and the earth.2The earth was empty, a formless masscloaked in darkness. And the Spirit ofGod was hovering over its surface. Then God said, "Let the land burstforth with every sort of grass and seedbearing plant. And let there be trees thatgrow seed-bearing fruit. The seeds willthen produce the kinds of plants andtrees from which they came." And so itwas.123Then God said, "Let there be light," andthere was light. The land was filled with seed-bearingplants and trees, and their seedsproduced plants and trees of like kind. And God saw that it was good.413And God saw that it was good. Then heseparated the light from the darkness. This all happened on the third day.14God called the light "day" and thedarkness "night." Together these madeup one day.And God said, "Let bright lights appearin the sky to separate the day from thenight. They will be signs to mark off theseasons, the days, and the years.6155And God said, "Let there be spacebetween the waters, to separate waterfrom water."Let their light shine down upon theearth." And so it was.167And so it was. God made this space toseparate the waters above from thewaters below.8And God called the space "sky." Thishappened on the second day.9And God said, "Let the waters beneaththe sky be gathered into one place sodry ground may appear." And so it was.10God named the dry ground "land" andthe water "seas." And God saw that itwas good. For God made two great lights, thesun and the moon, to shine down uponthe earth. The greater one, the sun, presides during the day; the lesser one,the moon, presides through the night. He also made the stars.17God set these lights in the heavens tolight the earth,18to govern the day and the night, and toseparate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.19This all happened on the fourth day.

20And God said, "Let the waters swarmwith fish and other life. Let the skies befilled with birds of every kind."And God said, "Look! I have given youthe seed-bearing plants throughout theearth and all the fruit trees for your food.21So God created great sea creaturesand every sort of fish and every kind ofbird. And God saw that it was good.30And I have given all the grasses andother green plants to the animals andbirds for their food." And so it was.2231Then God blessed them, saying, "Letthe fish multiply and fill the oceans. Letthe birds increase and fill the earth."2329Then God looked over all he hadmade, and he saw that it was excellentin every way. This all happened on thesixth day. This all happened on the fifth day.24And God said, "Let the earth bringforth every kind of animal--livestock,small animals, and wildlife." And so itwas.2So the creation of the heavens andthe earth and everything in them wascompleted.225God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each ableto reproduce more of its own kind. AndGod saw that it was good.26Then God said, "Let us make people inour image, to be like ourselves. Theywill be masters over all life--the fish inthe sea, the birds in the sky, and all thelivestock, wild animals, and smallanimals."27So God created people in his ownimage; God patterned them afterhimself; male and female he createdthem.28God blessed them and told them,"Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.Be masters over the fish and birds andall the animals."On the seventh day, having finished histask, God rested from all his work.3And God blessed the seventh day anddeclared it holy, because it was the daywhen he rested from his work ofcreation.4This is the account of the creation ofthe heavens and the earth. When theLORD God made the heavens and theearth,5there were no plants or grain growingon the earth, for the LORD God had notsent any rain. And no one was there tocultivate the soil.6But water came up out of the groundand watered all the land.7And the LORD God formed a man'sbody from the dust of the ground andbreathed into it the breath of life. Andthe man became a living person.

8Then the LORD God planted a gardenin Eden, in the east, and there he placedthe man he had created. And the LORD God said, "It is notgood for the man to be alone. I willmake a companion who will help him."919And the LORD God planted all sorts oftrees in the garden--beautiful trees thatproduced delicious fruit. At the center ofthe garden he placed the tree of life andthe tree of the knowledge of good andevil.10A river flowed from the land of Eden, watering the garden and then dividinginto four branches.18So the LORD God formed from the soilevery kind of animal and bird. Hebrought them to Adam to see what hewould call them, and Adam chose aname for each one.20He gave names to all the livestock, birds, and wild animals. But still therewas no companion suitable for him.21One of these branches is the Pishon, which flows around the entire land ofHavilah, where gold is found. So the LORD God caused Adam to fallinto a deep sleep. He took one ofAdam's ribs and closed up the placefrom which he had taken it.122211The gold of that land is exceptionallypure; aromatic resin and onyx stone arealso found there. Then the LORD God made a womanfrom the rib and brought her to Adam.23The second branch is the Gihon, which flows around the entire land ofCush."At last!" Adam exclaimed. "She is partof my own flesh and bone! She will becalled 'woman,' because she was takenout of a man."14The third branch is the Tigris, whichflows to the east of Asshur. The fourthbranch is the Euphrates.24This explains why a man leaves hisfather and mother and is joined to hiswife, and the two are united into one.152513The LORD God placed the man in theGarden of Eden to tend and care for it.16But the LORD God gave him thiswarning: "You may freely eat any fruit inthe garden17except fruit from the tree of theknowledge of good and evil. If you eat ofits fruit, you will surely die."Now, although Adam and his wifewere both naked, neither of them feltany shame.3Now the serpent was the shrewdestof all the creatures the LORD God hadmade. "Really?" he asked the woman."Did God really say you must not eatany of the fruit in the garden?"

2"Of course we may eat it," the womantold him.3"It's only the fruit from the tree at thecenter of the garden that we are notallowed to eat. God says we must noteat it or even touch it, or we will die."4"You won't die!" the serpent hissed.5"God knows that your eyes will beopened when you eat it. You willbecome just like God, knowingeverything, both good and evil."6The woman was convinced. The fruitlooked so fresh and delicious, and itwould make her so wise! So she atesome of the fruit. She also gave some toher husband, who was with her. Thenhe ate it, too.12"Yes," Adam admitted, "but it was thewoman you gave me who brought methe fruit, and I ate it."13Then the LORD God asked thewoman, "How could you do such athing?" "The serpent tricked me," shereplied. "That's why I ate it."14So the LORD God said to the serpent,"Because you have done this, you willbe punished. You are singled out fromall the domestic and wild animals of thewhole earth to be cursed. You will grovelin the dust as long as you live, crawlingalong on your belly.15From now on, you and the woman willbe enemies, and your offspring and heroffspring will be enemies. He will crushyour head, and you will strike his heel."167At that moment, their eyes wereopened, and they suddenly felt shameat their nakedness. So they strung figleaves together around their hips tocover themselves. Then he said to the woman, "You willbear children with intense pain andsuffering. And though your desire will befor your husband, he will be yourmaster."817Toward evening they heard the LORDGod walking about in the garden, sothey hid themselves among the trees.9The LORD God called to Adam,"Where are you?"10He replied, "I heard you, so I hid. I wasafraid because I was naked."11"Who told you that you were naked?"the LORD God asked. "Have you eatenthe fruit I commanded you not to eat?"And to Adam he said, "Because youlistened to your wife and ate the fruit Itold you not to eat, I have placed acurse on the ground. All your life you willstruggle to scratch a living from it.18It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains.19All your life you will sweat to producefood, until your dying day. Then you willreturn to the ground from which youcame. For you were made from dust, and to the dust you will return."

20Then Adam named his wife Eve,because she would be the mother of allpeople everywhere.but he did not accept Cain and hisoffering. This made Cain very angry anddejected.216And the LORD God made clothingfrom animal skins for Adam and his wife.22Then the LORD God said, "The peoplehave become as we are, knowingeverything, both good and evil. What ifthey eat the fruit of the tree of life? Thenthey will live forever!"23So the LORD God banished Adamand his wife from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate theground from which he had been made.24After banishing them from the garden, the LORD God stationed mighty angelicbeings to the east of Eden. And aflaming sword flashed back and forth, guarding the way to the tree of life.4Now Adam slept with his wife, Eve,and she became pregnant. When thetime came, she gave birth to Cain, andshe said, "With the LORD's help, I havebrought forth a man!"2Later she gave birth to a second sonand named him Abel. When they grewup, Abel became a shepherd, while Cainwas a farmer.3At harvesttime Cain brought to theLORD a gift of his farm produce,4while Abel brought several choicelambs from the best of his flock. TheLORD accepted Abel and his offering,5"Why are you so angry?" the LORDasked him. "Why do you look sodejected?7You will be accepted if you respond inthe right way. But if you refuse torespond correctly, then watch out! Sin iswaiting to attack and destroy you, andyou must subdue it."8Later Cain suggested to his brother,Abel, "Let's go out into the fields." Andwhile they were there, Cain attackedand killed his brother.9Afterward the LORD asked Cain,"Where is your brother? Where is Abel?""I don't know!" Cain retorted. "Am Isupposed to keep track of him whereverhe goes?"10But the LORD said, "What have youdone? Listen--your brother's blood criesout to me from the ground!11You are hereby banished from theground you have defiled with yourbrother's blood.12No longer will it yield abundant cropsfor you, no matter how hard you work! From now on you will be a homelessfugitive on the earth, constantlywandering from place to place."13Cain replied to the LORD, "Mypunishment is too great for me to bear!

14You have banished me from my landand from your presence; you have mademe a wandering fugitive. All who see mewill try to kill me!"15The LORD replied, "They will not killyou, for I will give seven times yourpunishment to anyone who does." Thenthe LORD put a mark on Cain to warnanyone who might try to kill him.killed a youthwounded me.whoattackedand24If anyone who kills Cain is to bepunished seven times, anyone whotakes revenge against me will bepunished seventy-seven times!"25So Cain left the LORD's presence andsettled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.Adam slept with his wife again, andshe gave birth to another son. Shenamed him Seth, for she said, "God hasgranted me another son in place of Abel, the one Cain killed."172616Then Cain's wife became pregnantand gave birth to a son, and they namedhim Enoch. When Cain founded a city,he named it Enoch after his son.18Enoch was the father of Irad. Irad wasthe father of Mehujael. Mehujael wasthe father of Methushael. Methushaelwas the father of Lamech.19Lamech married two women--Adahand Zillah.20Adah gave birth to a baby namedJabal. He became the first of theherdsmen who live in tents.21His brother's name was Jubal, the firstmusician--the inventor of the harp andflute.22To Lamech's other wife, Zillah, wasborn Tubal-cain. He was the first to workwith metal, forging instruments ofbronze and iron. Tubal-cain had a sisternamed Naamah.23One day Lamech said to Adah andZillah, "Listen to me, my wives. I haveWhen Seth grew up, he had a son andnamed him Enosh. It was during hislifetime that people first began toworship the LORD.5This is the history of the descendantsof Adam. When God created people, hemade them in the likeness of God.2He created them male and female, andhe blessed them and called them"human."3When Adam was 130 years old, his sonSeth was born, and Seth was the veryimage of his father.4After the birth of Seth, Adam livedanother 800 years, and he had othersons and daughters.5He died at the age of 930.6When Seth was 105 years old, his sonEnosh was born.

7After the birth of Enosh, Seth livedanother 807 years, and he had othersons and daughters.8He died at the age of 912.9When Enosh was 90 years old, his sonKenan was born.10After the birth of Kenan, Enosh livedanother 815 years, and he had othersons and daughters.11He died at the age of 905.12When Kenan was 70 years old, hisson Mahalalel was born.13After the birth of Mahalalel, Kenanlived another 840 years, and he hadother sons and daughters.14He died at the age of 910.15When Mahalalel was 65 years old, hisson Jared was born.21When Enoch was 65 years old, his sonMethuselah was born.22After the birth of Methuselah, Enochlived another 300 years in closefellowship with God, and he had othersons and daughters.23Enoch lived 365 years in all.24He enjoyed a close relationship withGod throughout his life. Then suddenly,he disappeared because God took him.25When Methuselah was 187 years old,his son Lamech was born.26After the birth of Lamech, Methuselahlived another 782 years, and he hadother sons and daughters.27He died at the age of 969.28When Lamech was 182 years old, hisson Noah was born.29After the birth of Jared, Mahalalel lived830 years, and he had other sons anddaughters.Lamech named his son Noah, for hesaid, "He will bring us relief from thepainful labor of farming this ground thatthe LORD has cursed."173016He died at the age of 895.18When Jared was 162 years old, hisson Enoch was born. After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived595 years, and he had other sons anddaughters.31He died at the age of 777.19After the birth of Enoch, Jared livedanother 800 years, and he had othersons and daughters.20He died at the age of 962.32By the time Noah was 500 years old,he had three sons: Shem, Ham, andJapheth.

6When the human population beganto grow rapidly on the earth,2the sons of God saw the beautifulwomen of the human race and took anythey wanted as their wives.3Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will notput up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In thefuture, they will live no more than 120years."4In those days, and even afterward, giants lived on the earth, for wheneverthe sons of God had intercourse withhuman women, they gave birth tochildren who became the heroesmentioned in legends of old.10Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham,and Japheth.11Now the earth had become corrupt inGod's sight, and it was filled withviolence.12God observed all this corruption in theworld, and he saw violence anddepravity everywhere.13So God said to Noah, "I have decidedto destroy all living creatures, for theearth is filled with violence because ofthem. Yes, I will wipe them all from theface of the earth!14"Make a boat from resinous wood andseal it with tar, inside and out. Thenconstruct decks and stalls throughout itsinterior.5Now the LORD observed the extent ofthe people's wickedness, and he sawthat all their thoughts were consistentlyand totally evil.6So the LORD was sorry he had evermade them. It broke his heart.7And the LORD said, "I will completelywipe out this human race that I havecreated. Yes, and I will destroy all theanimals and birds, too. I am sorry I evermade them."8But Noah found favor with the LORD.9This is the history of Noah and hisfamily. Noah was a righteous man, theonly blameless man living on earth atthe time. He consistently followed God'swill and enjoyed a close relationshipwith him.15Make it 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.16Construct an opening all the wayaround the boat, 18 inches below theroof. Then put three decks inside theboat--bottom, middle, and upper--andput a door in the side.17"Look! I am about to cover the earthwith a flood that will destroy every livingthing. Everything on earth will die!18But I solemnly swear to keep you safein the boat, with your wife and your sonsand their wives.19Bring a pair of every kind of animal--amale and a female--into the boat withyou to keep them alive during the flood.

20Pairs of each kind of bird and eachkind of animal, large and small alike, willcome to you to be kept alive.21And remember, take enough food foryour family and for all the animals."22So Noah did everything exactly asGod had commanded him.8With them were all the various kinds ofanimals--those approved for eating andsacrifice and those that were not--alongwith all the birds and other smallanimals.9They came into the boat in pairs, maleand female, just as God hadcommanded Noah.107Finally,the day came when theLORD said to Noah, "Go into the boatwith all your family, for among all thepeople of the earth, I consider you aloneto be righteous.2Take along seven pairs of each animalthat I have approved for eating and forsacrifice, and take one pair of each ofthe others.3Then select seven pairs of every kind ofbird. There must be a male and afemale in each pair to ensure that everykind of living creature will survive theflood.4One week from today I will begin fortydays and forty nights of rain. And I willwipe from the earth all the living things Ihave created."5So Noah did exactly as the LORD hadcommanded him.6He was 600 years old when the floodcame,7and he went aboard the boat toescape--he and his wife and his sonsand their wives. One week later, the flood came andcovered the earth.11When Noah was 600 years old, on theseventeenth day of the second month, the underground waters burst forth onthe earth, and the rain fell in mightytorrents from the sky.12The rain continued to fall for forty daysand forty nights.13But Noah had gone into the boat thatvery day with his wife and his sons-Shem, Ham, and Japheth--and theirwives.14With them in the boat were pairs ofevery kind of breathing animal-domestic and wild, large and small-along with birds and flying insects ofevery kind.15Two by two they came into the boat,16male and female, just as God hadcommanded. Then the LORD shut themin.17For forty days the floods prevailed, covering the ground and lifting the boathigh above the earth.

18As the waters rose higher and higherabove the ground, the boat floatedsafely on the surface.exactly five months from the time theflood began, the boat came to rest onthe mountains of Ararat.195Finally, the water covered even thehighest mountains on the earth,20standing more than twenty-two feetabove the highest peaks.214Two and a half months later, as thewaters continued to go down, othermountain peaks began to appear.6After another forty days, Noah openedthe window he had made in the boatAll the living things on earth died--birds,domestic animals, wild animals, all kindsof small animals, and all the people.and released a raven that flew backand forth until the earth was dry.22Everything died that breathed andlived on dry land.8Then he sent out a dove to see if itcould find dry ground.239Every living thing on the earth waswiped out--people, animals both largeand small, and birds. They were alldestroyed, and only Noah was left alive, along with those who were with him inthe boat.24And the water covered the earth for150 days.8But God remembered Noah and allthe animals in the boat. He sent a windto blow across the waters, and thefloods began to disappear.7But the dove found no place to landbecause the water was still too high. Soit returned to the boat, and Noah heldout his hand and drew the dove backinside.10Seven days later, Noah released thedove again.11This time, toward evening, the birdreturned to him with a fresh olive leaf inits beak. Noah now knew that the waterwas almost gone.12A week later, he released the doveagain, and this time it did not come back.2The underground water sourcesceased their gushing, and the torrentialrains stopped.3So the flood gradually began to recede. After 150 days,13Finally, when Noah was 601 years old,ten and a half months after the floodbegan, Noah lifted back the cover tolook. The water was drying up.14Two more months went by, and at lastthe earth was dry!15Then God said to Noah,

16"Leave the boat, all of you.17Release all the animals and birds sothey can breed and reproduce in greatnumbers."18So Noah, his wife, and his sons andtheir wives left the boat.4But you must never eat animals thatstill have their lifeblood in them.5And murder is forbidden. Animals thatkill people must die, and any personwho murders must be killed.6And all the various kinds of animalsand birds came out, pair by pair.Yes, you must execute anyone whomurders another person, for to kill aperson is to kill a living being made inGod's image.20719Then Noah built an altar to the LORDand sacrificed on it the animals andbirds that had been approved for thatpurpose.21And the LORD was pleased with thesacrifice and said to himself, "I will neveragain curse the earth, destroying allliving things, even though people'sthoughts and actions are bent towardevil from childhood.22As long as the earth remains, there willbe springtime and harvest, cold andheat, winter and summer, day andnight."Now you must have many children andrepopulate the earth. Yes, multiply andfill the earth!"8Then God told Noah and his sons,9"I am making a covenant with you andyour descendants,10and with the animals you brought withyou--all these birds and livestock andwild animals.11I solemnly promise never to sendanother flood to kill all living creaturesand destroy the earth."12told them, "Multiply and fill the earth. And God said, "I am giving you a signas evidence of my eternal covenant withyou and all living creatures.2All the wild animals, large and small, and all the birds and fish will be afraid ofyou. I have placed them in your power.13I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my permanent promiseto you and to all the earth.3149God blessed Noah and his sons andI have given them to you for food, justas I have given you grain andvegetables. When I send clouds over the earth, therainbow will be seen in the clouds,15and I will remember my covenant withyou and with everything that lives. Never

again will there be a flood that willdestroy all life.16When I see the rainbow in the clouds, Iwill remember the eternal covenantbetween God and every living creatureon earth."17Then God said to Noah, "Yes, this isthe sign of my covenant with all thecreatures of the earth."18Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the threesons of Noah, survived the Flood withtheir father. (Ham is the ancestor of theCanaanites.)19From these three sons of Noah cameall the people now scattered across theearth.20After the Flood, Noah became afarmer and planted a vineyard.21One day he became drunk on somewine he had made and lay naked in histent.22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw thathis father was naked and went outsideand told his brothers.23Shem and Japheth took a robe, held itover their shoulders, walked backwardinto the tent, and covered their father'snaked body. As they did this, theylooked the other way so they wouldn'tsee him naked.24When Noah woke up from his drunkenstupor, he learned what Ham, hisyoungest son, had done.25Then he cursed the descendants ofCanaan, the son of Ham: "A curse onthe Canaanites! May they be the lowestof servants to the descendants of Shemand Japheth."26Then Noah said, "May Shem beblessed by the LORD my God; and mayCanaan be his servant.27May God enlarge the territory ofJapheth, and may he share theprosperity of Shem; and let Canaan behis servant."28Noah lived another 350 years after theFlood.29He was 950 years old when he died.10This is the history of the familiesof Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the threesons of Noah. Many children were bornto them after the Flood.2The descendants of Japheth wereGomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal,Meshech, and Tiras.3The descendants of Gomer wereAshkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.4The descendants of Javan wereElishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.5Theirdescendantsbecametheseafaring peoples in various lands, eachtribe with its own language.6The descendants of Ham were Cush,Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

7The descendants of Cush were Seba,Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah wereSheba and Dedan.Eventually the territory of Canaanspread from Sidon to Gerar, near Gaza, and to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, andZeboiim, near Lasha.820One of Cush's descendants wasNimrod, who became a heroic warrior.919These were the descendants of Ham,identified according to their tribes, languages, territories, and nations. He was a mighty hunter in the LORD'ssight. His name became proverbial, andpeople would speak of someone asbeing "like Nimrod, a mighty hunter inthe LORD's sight."Sons were also born to Shem, theolder brother of Japheth. Shem was theancestor of all the descendants of Eber.10The descendants of Shem were Elam,Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.He built the foundation for his empirein the land of Babylonia, with the citiesof Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh.11From there he extended his reign toAssyria, where he built Nineveh,Rehoboth-ir, Calah,12and Resen--the main city of the empire, located between Nineveh and Calah.212223The descendants of Aram were Uz,Hul, Gether, and Mash.24Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.2513Mizraim was the ancestor of theLudites,Anamites,Lehabites,Naphtuhites,Eber had two sons. The first wasnamed Peleg--"division"--for during hislifetime the people of the world weredivided into different language groupsand dispersed. His brother's name wasJoktan.1426Pathrusites, Casluhites, and theCaphtorites, from whom the Philistinescame.15Canaan's oldest son was Sidon, theancestor of the Sidonians. Canaan wasalso the ancestor of the Hittites,Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad,Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,28Obal, Abimael, Sheba,2916Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab.3017Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,18Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. The descendants of Joktan lived in thearea extending from Mesha toward theeastern hills of Sephar.

31These were the descendants of Shem, identified according to their tribes, languages, territories, and nations.Come, let's go down and give themdifferent languages. Then they won't beable to understand each other."328These are the families that came fromNoah's sons, listed nation by nationaccording to their lines of descent. Theearth was populated with the people ofthese nations after the Flood.11At one time the whole world spokea single language and used the samewords.2As the people migrated eastward, theyfound a plain in the land of Babyloniaand settled there.3They began to talk about constructionprojects. "Come," they said, "let's makegreat piles of burnt brick and collectnatural asphalt to use as mortar.4Let's build a great city with a tower thatreaches to the skies--a monument to ourgreatness! This will bring us togetherand keep us from scattering all over theworld."5But the LORD came down to see thecity and the tower the people werebuilding.6"Look!" he said. "If they can accomplishthis when they have just begun to takeadvantage of their common languageand political unity, just think of what theywill do later. Nothing will be impossiblefor them!7In that way, the LORD scattered themall over the earth; and that ended thebuilding of the city.9That is why the city was called Babel, because it was there that the LORDconfused the people by giving themmany languages, thus scattering themacross the earth.10This is the history of Shem's family. When Shem was 100 years old, his sonArphaxad was born. This happened twoyears after the Flood.11After the birth of Arphaxad, Shem livedanother 500 years and had other sonsand daughters.12When Arphaxad was 35 years old, hisson Shelah was born.13After the birth of Shelah, Arphaxadlived another 403 years and had othersons and daughters.14When Shelah was 30 years old, hisson Eber was born.15After the birth of Eber, Shelah livedanother 403 years and had other sonsand daughters.16When Eber was 34 years old, his sonPeleg was born.17After the birth of Peleg, Eber livedanother 430 years and had other sonsand daughters.

18When Peleg was 30 years old, his sonReu was born.19After the birth of Reu, Peleg livedanother 209 years and had other sonsand daughters.20When Reu was 32 years old, his sonSerug was born.21After the birth of Serug, Reu livedanother 207 years and had other sonsand daughters.29Meanwhi
