In fact, our internalstandards of manufacturing in the USAand Canada far exceed industry standardsset by ASTM (American Society forTesting and Materials) and CSA (CanadianStandards Association) and otherEuropean organizations.LIFETIME GUARANTEE - RESIDENTIALOur Transferable Lifetime Guaranteewarranties the structural integrityof Unilock concrete paving stonesand retaining wall units when used inresidential applications. It covers anystructural failure or deterioration of theconcrete unit resulting from normal useor from the reasonable application ofsodium chloride (common rock salt usedfor deicing). StoneMark products havethe same warranties as Unilock pavingstones and retaining walls, but cannotbe warrantied against damage resultingfrom de-icing products. Any materialsinstalled and maintained to our guidelines,and subject to normal wear, that provedefective, will be replaced without cost.2Proof of purchase is required. Customersare encouraged to submit receipts to us assoon as their project is complete, using theUnilock Warranty Registration Form on ourwebsite (Unilock.com).Purchasers need to ensure that theproduct they purchase is appropriate fortheir intended application; for example,only certain thicknesses of products areappropriate for driveways. Color matchingof the replacement product and/or losttime cannot be guaranteed and laborcosts related to installing replacementproduct is not included. Unilock reservesthe right to seek a professional diagnosisand opinion to determine the exact causeof the product failure. If the failure fallswithin our warranty parameters, Unilockwill replace the defective product.EXCLUSIONS – Unfortunately, somethings are beyond the control of Unilock,and are therefore not covered by thiswarranty. These include: naturallyoccurring efflorescence, hazing frompolymeric jointing sand, scratching andchipping resulting from snow removal orconstruction equipment, damage causedby natural or un-natural disasters, ornegligence by anyone other than Unilock.The Unilock warranty also does not coverdeterioration or damage as a result of poordesign or poor installation practices thatare contrary to specifications as laid outby ICPI (Interlocking Concrete PavementInstitute) and the NCMA (National ConcreteMasonry Association).For more information please visit www.icpi.org and www.ncma.org. Additionally,please refer to the Maintenance, Color andInstallation Advisories.MAINTENANCE ADVISORY1. Cleaning and SealingAs with anything that is outdoors, Unilockproducts are subject to harsh weather,dust, acid rain, leaf stains, water stainsand general wear from foot or vehiculartraffic. Therefore, periodic cleaning usingenvironmentally safe detergents designedfor cleaning concrete is recommended tomaintain a bright, fresh appearance.To make subsequent cleaning easier andmore effective, a concrete sealer can beapplied to new or cleaned products to helpprevent the penetration of substances thatcan cause stains.There are many types of concrete cleanersand sealers on the market. Always readthe instructions carefully before using theproduct to make sure that it will functionas expected. Testing first, in a smallunobtrusive area, is always a good idea toensure the results are acceptable. Consultyour local hardscape dealer to find theproducts best suited for your paver or wallinstallation.2. Winter MaintenanceSnow removal by way of metal blades onplows or shovels will scratch and chip thesurface of pavers, causing permanentdamage. To mitigate this risk, metalsnow clearing blades must always havea polyurethane or rubber cutting edgeattached when plowing pavers.De-icing Salts - The use of de-icingproducts on paver surfaces is importantfor safety and to help mitigate snowaccumulation. Most de-icing products
will have some effect on concrete, even ifthe product label indicates that it is safeon concrete. If you must use a de-icingproduct, we recommend that you useSodium Chloride (ordinary rock salt) orCalcium Chloride (for colder climates).Always apply sparingly. The use ofde-icing products on StoneMark,wet-cast pavers, slabs or coping maydamage the product and therefore is notrecommended. Whenever possible usea coarse sand as an anti-slip measureinstead of de-icing chemicals.COLOR ADVISORY1. SelectionDue to the inherently variable nature ofprinted materials and digital monitors,Unilock cannot guarantee that productswill match the color of printed or onlineimages. Therefore, when making finalproduct selections, decisions should bemade based on actual stones which arereadily available from Unilock, AuthorizedContractors or Authorized Dealers. MostUnilock products are not comprised of asingle color, but rather contain blendedcolors for a more natural appearance.This means that there will be significantcolor variance from stone to stone,so purchasers should view multipleunits together to get a more accurateimpression of the overall color.Note: Unilock Natural Stone variations areoutside the control of Unilock. Purchasersof natural stone must be willing to acceptthis inherent variability.2. Pre-installation checkingAlways check the label to ensure that theUnilock product delivered to your projectis the product and color ordered. If there isa discrepancy, or if the product inside thepackaging doesn’t appear to be correct,contact your hardscape dealer beforeinstalling any pavers or wall units. If theproduct is installed, it indicates youracceptance of the products as delivered.if allowed to dry on the surface of pavers.Unilock warranties do not coverstains caused by a failure to removeconstruction residue.3. BlendingIf the project requires more than onebundle of product it’s always a good ideato draw product from several bundleswhen installing, as this ensures thatany variation between bundles will beseamlessly integrated in the project. Whenbundles are from different production runs,random selection from multiple bundles iseven more important.Surface hazing caused by polymericjointing sand is not the responsibility ofUnilock. Polymeric jointing sand shouldonly be installed by an experiencedand knowledgeable contractor. Anysand that is left on the surface prior toactivation will result in a haze that is verydifficult and time-consuming to remove.Only the highest quality, brand namepolymeric sand that is guaranteed by themanufacturer should be used.4. Efflorescence3. Compaction DamageEfflorescence is a naturally occurringprocess that may appear as a white or lightgrey powder on the surface of concrete,clay or natural stone. It is temporary, andwill disappear over time. However, if it isbothersome, an efflorescence cleaner canbe used to remove it. There is no way topredict or prevent efflorescence. Becauseit does not compromise the structuralintegrity of the product, it is not covered byUnilock product warranties.Both smooth and textured paver surfacescan be scratched by compactionequipment used to ‘flatten’ a newpaver installation. Therefore, metalplate compactors must be fitted with apolyethylene mat to protect the paversurface from becoming scratched, or asuperior option is to use a rubber-rollercompactor instead. Damage to productsurfaces caused by failure to follow theseinstructions is not covered by Unilockproduct warranties.2. Polymeric HazeINSTALLATION ADVISORY1. Construction ResidueWhile a certain amount of dirt onpavers and walls is inevitable duringthe construction phase, installers arestrongly encouraged to clean as they goas construction residue can embed in thesurface and become difficult to remove.The slurry produced during wet-sawcutting is particularly stubborn to cleanVisit Unilock.com to register for yourTransferable Lifetime Guarantee.3
