History of the SchoolGoverning BodyThe school was founded in spring 2010 as a branch of Concorde CareerCollege, Kansas City, MO. Surgical Technology ProgramThe Surgical Technology program is initially accredited by the Commission onAccreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), 9355 113thStreet N., #7709, Seminole, FL 33775-7709; 727-210-2350; www.caahep.org,as recommended by the Accreditation Review Council on Education inSurgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA), 19751 E Mainstreet,Ste 339, Parker, CO, 80138; 303-694-9262; www.arcstsa.org.EquipmentEquipment and instruments are available to instruct students in the skillsthey will need in their chosen careers. Concorde students acquire knowledgeand technical skills through demonstrations, actual operation of equipment,and the practice of techniques. Among the major items of equipmentavailable to Concorde students are the following (by program):Campus FacilitiesThe school occupies approximately 48,043 square feet of space. The facilityoffers administrative offices, a Learning Resource Center, computer labs, anda student lounge. In addition, the school provides various learning labs andclassrooms to support the educational objectives of each program.Cardiovascular Sonography ProgramEquipment includes hospital beds, various ultrasound scanning systems,ultrasound transducers (abdominal, vascular, cardiac), ABI scanningequipment, simulation training computers, medical record software, medicalultrasound printer and scanning simulation mannequins.General FacilitiesAmong the various classrooms, laboratories, and other facilities provided forstudents are (varies program): A nonsmoking student lounge, which includes vending machines andmicrowaves, is available for student use.Dental Assistant ProgramComputer laboratories equipped with word processing software, officemanagement software, and equipment for self-paced keyboarding andtyping instruction;A dental laboratory equipped with dental operatories, dental x-rayunits, and teaching and x-ray mannequins;A dental x-ray darkroom equipped for the processing of dental x-rays;Medical laboratories equipped with examining tables, mannequins, andsimulated examination rooms;A nursing skill laboratory with individual patient care stations andthat is equipped with equipment and supplies to assist students toprepare for patient care activities with the scope of practice of thelicensed nurse;A physical therapist assistant laboratory treatment area, includingtreatment tables, assessment tools, and medical supplies;A respiratory laboratory equipped with therapeutic equipment;Surgical technology labs with a simulated operating room andscrub area;A Learning Resource Center (LRC), providing a quiet area wherestudents may refer to various publications, journals, technical manuals,and reference books. Students are allowed to check out books from theLRC for purposes of research, review, or report preparation. Books maybe checked out with the library supervisor. Students are also able tocomplete homework assignments with the use of online computers.There is a dental lab completely equipped to function in the capacity as adental office. The lab has four dental operatories and two dental x-ray units.In addition, the lab is equipped with a panoramic machine, completedarkroom facilities, and four teaching x-ray Dexter mannequins. DentalAssistant students also have access to computers that are stored in eachoperatory. The computers provide information for students to learnmounting x-rays, case studies, and charting. In addition, there are autoclaves,curing lights, amalgamators, model trimmers, sterilization equipment, dentalvibrators, and other miscellaneous equipment available.Dental Hygiene ProgramStudents enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program have access to a completelyequipped and functioning dental clinic. Included in the clinical facility are fourradiography units, a panoramic x-ray unit, and 12 fully equipped operatories.Students learn various technical skills in the lab before treating a patient.Some special equipment included are ultrasonic scalers, model trimmers,intraoral cameras, both digital and traditional x-rays, autoclaves, andautomatic processors. Mannequins are used for instrument skill andinstruction. Personal computers with appropriate software are also used forthe benefit of the student.Medical Assistant ProgramEquipment includes stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers, examination andtreatment tables, simulated examination rooms,
