Joel gives us another valuable clue.He clearly and specifically time linksthe cosmic signs of the darkenedsun and the blood moon to thedeliverance of Jerusalem.

31 Thesun shall be turned into darkness, and themoon into blood, before the great and terrible day ofthe LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, thatwhosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall besaved/delivered:for in mount Zion and inJerusalem shall be deliverance,as the LORD hath said, and in the remnantwhom the LORD shall call.- Joel 2:31-32

So we can be quite confident insaying that the blood moon andthe other cosmic signs will be inevidence as the armies gatheragainst Jerusalem at the Battleof Armageddon. As we know, thiswill come at the end of this age.

The prophet Zechariah also describes theBattle of Armageddon. The description wesee here of pervasive tissue injury sufferedby men in armies that are coming down fromthe north to attack Jerusalem suggests theuse of nuclear field weapons. As we read thisscripture in Zechariah 14 we can see that itis a perfect description of what happens toliving things even down to the bacterial levelunder an exploding neutron bomb.

12 Andthis shall be the plaguewherewith the LORD will smiteall the people that havefought against Jerusalem;Their flesh shall consumeaway while they stand upontheir feet, and their eyes shallconsume away in their holes,and their tongue shallconsume away in their mouth.

A small 100 kiloton neutron bomb or missileor artillery shell if exploded at 3,000 feet willgive a fatal dose of radiation to immobilize,confuse, derange, and slowly kill all soldiersand living things beneath it for severalsquare miles. It is is a weapon specificallytaylored for use on concentrated armoredtank divisions. The neutron particle blastkills people but leaves structures intact.

Yes, these will be fearful times. But God lovesHis covenant people. And even when theyare under trial, in tribulation, or far away inexile at Mystery Bozrah there is good news.As we see in this scripture passage and manyothers God has promised to make abundantprovision for His Elect right on up throughthe tribulation and beyond with theoutpouring of His Holy Spirit.

Joel 2:28-2928 ”And it shall come to pass afterward, that I willpour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons andyour daughters shall prophesy, your old men shalldream dreams, your young men shall see visions:29 And also upon the servants and upon thehandmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Some may ask, how can there possiblybe a Holy Spirit revival in the midst oftribulation? Well throughout the Biblewe see that when God’s people arein trouble they cry out to Him. Thewatchmen sound the shofar with theTeruah signal of remembrance. Godhears and He answers. Then comesthe awakening and the revival.

“Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sound the alarmon my holy mountain. Call a solemn assembly!Sanctify a fast. Consecrate the people.Let the priests/pastors/rabbis weepbetween the porch and the altar.”

So the genuine and long awaited latterrain will surely come. Joel saw the peakof Holy Spirit outpouring as one viewinga mountain top from afar. He saw Godpouring out of His Spirit and poweringright on up through the Great Tribulation,. . . . and beyond. Will the great fallingaway our apostle Paul spoke about behappening at the same time? Oh yes.

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoeverthat the peak of the Holy Spirit outpouringwill come climactically at the end of thisage as Jesus is about to return. Joel sawthe Holy Spirit outpouring coming to itsblowout climax during these days of pillarsof fire and smoke, during the days of thedarkened sun, and the true blood moon.

Joel 2:28-3228 ”And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out myspirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shallprophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young menshall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon thehandmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I willshow wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire,and pillars of smoke.31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, andthe moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORDcome. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call onthe name of the LORD shall be saved / delivered.”

So the Holy Spirit will not desert us during those final 7 yearsas we have been told. This is devilish disinformation. Manyof God’s people will be going up to witness in the latter days.It is a grievous matter to demoralize these saints withuntruths like this. The Holy Spirit cannot skip out on us. He isomnipresent. As David declares in Psalm 139, God’s Spiritcannot vacate any part of this cosmos or heaven. Daviddeclares that even if he was in Hades the Spirit of God wouldfind Him and be with him. The Holy Spirit cannot and willnot be “taken out of the way”. Instead He will be powerfullypresent among His covenant people even through andbeyond the Great Tribulation. But this is another story foranother time.

The prophet Joel presents anothervaluable piece of information inJoel 2:31He reports that these cosmic signswill come BEFORE the great andterrible Day of the Lord opens up.

Now let’s see what Jesus in theOlivet Discourse tells us about theblood moon and the cosmic signs.He says that after the Tribulation1. The sun shall be darkened,2. the moon shall not give her light, and3. the stars shall fall from heaven.Jesus also states that thepowers of the heavens shall be shaken.

These are the cosmic signsand disturbances associatedwith the 6th seal and Jesussaid they will come AFTERthe Great Tribulation ends.”Immediately AFTERthe tribulation ofthose days shallthe sun be darkened,and the moon shallnot give her light,and the stars shallfall from heaven,and the powers ofthe heavens shallbe shaken.” Mat. 24:29

Again we see reference to not just a bloodmoon but three cosmic signs. The bloodmoon is accompanied by a darkened sunand stars falling. The latter will possiblybe an epic meteor shower heralding thecasting down of the principalities andpowers. These are the angelic rulers thatcurrently bear rule over the variousgeographical regions of this world.

And when will these three awesomeand unprecedented world-widecosmic signs be seen? When will thesun be darkened, the moon turn toblood, and the stars fall? Well as wesee here in Matthew 24 Jesus clearlyand distinctly states that they wouldoccur after the tribulation.

So now we can say under the authorityof the words of the prophet Joel and thewords of Jesus that the true blood moonand the full array of cosmic signs is neatlysandwiched into a discreet time intervalAFTER the Tribulation andBEFORE the opening ofthe Day of the Lord.

So what will be the events that cause thetermination of the Great Tribulation? In Matthew24 and Luke 21 we get another major clue. Againin the Olivet Discourse Jesus states that exceptthose days should be shortened, there shouldno flesh be saved: but for the Elect's sake thosedays shall be shortened. So what event might bethe occasion for divine intervention? What globalcalamity must be stopped, and just in a nick oftime, for the sake of God’s covenant people?

Mat. 2421For then shall begreat tribulation,Such as was notsince the beginningof the world to this time,no, nor ever shall be.22 Andexcept those days should be shortened,there should no flesh be saved:but for the elect's sakethose days shall be shortened.

Once again, we are led to this as a possiblecause. What if a terrible event such as this, theheight of human rebellion and mis-rule werenot nipped in the bud? Would it not escalateto cause the total destruction of all life on thisplanet, even to the point where “no flesh besaved”? Other Scripture references to nuclearexchange at the end of the age are Zechariah14:12, Ezekiel 39:6, Isaiah 13:6-13, Isaiah 17:1,Revelation 16:19, and 17:1-18.

“And except those days should beshortened, there should no fleshbe saved: - Mat. 24:22

Would not such a catastrophic event bethe occasion for divine intervention withthe reign of the Antichrist beingcut short by the returning Messiah?The Apostle Paul had something to sayabout this as well. Here in 2Thes. 2:8he says that the coming of Messiah willterminate the tyrannical rule of “thatwicked one” the Antichrist.

2Thes. 2:8And then shall thatWicked (one) berevealed, whom theLord will consumewith the Spirit of Hismouth and shalldestroy with thebrightness of Hiscoming.

In Revelation 17 we get yet anotherperspective on this. John saw the 24 Elderswho sat before the throne of God. Our next witness for the blood moon isthe Apostle John. There in exile on theisland of Patmos, he was caught up invision into the eternal realms. In transporthe was taken right on into the Day of theLord. There he was given a guided tourand a bird’s eye view of the latter days.He witnessed awesome things, someof which he could not speak about.

John saw the very same threecosmic signs that Jesus and Joelbetween them had described.

Blood MoonDarkened SunStars Falling

In Revelation 6:12-13a the Apostle Johnrecords what he saw in vision. He sawMessiah opening the 6th seal. As He didso there was a great earthquake; andthe sun became black as sackcloth ofhair, the moon became as blood; 13 Andthe stars of heaven fell unto the earth.

12 AndI beheld when he had opened the sixthseal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; andthe sun became black as sackcloth of hair, andthe moon became as blood; 13 And the stars ofheaven fell unto the earth, - Rev. 6:12,13

So now we have three Biblical references to thetrue apocalyptic blood moon. The three personsdescribing this are Joel in Joel 2:31, our LordJesus in Matthew 24:29, and the Apostle John inRevelation 6:13. We need to pay close attention towhat each one is telling us because between thethree of them they are telling us quite a lot. Theyare giving us pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. Puttingthe pieces together faithfully we can get a truepicture and an accurate chronology of what willbe happening in these, the last of the last days.

So when will the blood moon and the cosmicsigns of the 6th seal begin? Let’s cut to the chase.If Jesus says that they will occur AFTER the GreatTribulation then they must begin at the end ofthe 70th Week of Daniel. This is 1260 days, 42Biblical months, or 3.5 Biblical years out fromthe Abomination of Desolation. The AOD is akey reference point at the midpoint of the 70thWeek. It is described by Daniel in Daniel 12:11and referred to by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse.

th70The second half of theWeekof Daniel is variously described in theseseven verses. The timeline is given to usin terms of days, Biblical months, andBiblical years. We find our big clue in Daniel 12:11.The angel Gabriel tells the prophetDaniel, “And from the time that thedaily sacrifice shall be taken away, andthe abomination that makes desolateis set up, there shall be a thousandtwo hundred and ninety days.”

Daniel 12:11“And from the time that the dailysacrifice shall be taken away, andthe abomination that makethdesolate set up, there shall bea thousand two hundredand ninety days.”

So does the future 70th Week completely andtotally wrap up the final seven years of thisage? Well from what the angel Gabriel toldthe prophet Daniel in Daniel 12:11 it seemsthat the answer is no. Here we see specificmention not of the 1260 days of the latterhalf of the 70th Week but of 1290 days. Andas we see here from the wording of the textthe 1290 days takes us right through to theend of this present evil age.

So if there is a 1290 day time periodextending out from the mid-70th WeekAbomination of Desolation how manydays will there be overlapping the 1260thdays of the latter half of the 70 Weekof Daniel? Well if it goes out to 1290days we are looking at an extra 30 days.

So we are bound to conclude thatthe time period of the true bloodmoon and those accompanyingcosmic signs of the 6th Seal willlast for a period of 30 days.

It seems the REAL blood moonwill be spectacular beyond telling.It will last a month, a lot longerthan the brief hour or so in whichthe penumbra phase of a lunareclipse causes a red moon.

The true and genuine bloodmoon will also be accompaniedby a darkened sun. These willbe dark and cloudy days.

The 6th seal will see the sun turned to darkness andthe moon to blood and this will go on for 30 days.
