This Serviceand Maintenance Guide is designed to help you make sure yourelectric vehicle receives proper and timely maintenance thatis necessary. Key services are explained in detail, along with anoutline of scheduled maintenance to help you maintain yourelectric vehicle. DETERMINING THE PROPER MAINTENANCE INTERVALAs a condition of your electric vehicle’s warranty, you are responsible for properly maintainingyour electric vehicle. In maintaining your electric vehicle, you should follow either Schedule 1 orSchedule 2 as listed below. Use these guidelines to determine which maintenance scheduleto use.SCHEDULE 1 (more severe operating conditions) SCHEDULE 2 (less severe operating conditions)Schedule 2 features 7,500-mile service intervals;Use Schedule 1 if you primarily operate yourwith Schedule 2 fewer maintenance items areelectric vehicle under any of these conditions:regularly checked or replaced than withRepeated short trips of less than 5 miles inSchedule 1.normal temperatures or less than 10 miles inGenerally, Schedule 2 applies only to highwayfreezing temperaturesdriving in temperate conditions. Use Schedule 2Stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or lowonly if you primarily operate your electric vehiclespeed driving for long distancesunder conditions other than those listed inDriving in dusty conditions or on rough, muddy, Schedule 1.or salt-spread roadsUsing a car-top carrier8

EXPLANATION OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ITEMSThe following descriptions areprovided to give you a betterunderstanding of the scheduledmaintenance items thatshould be regularly checked orreplaced. The maintenance logindicates at which mileage/timeintervals each item requiresservice.In addition to scheduledmaintenance, your Nissanrequires that some items bechecked during normal dayto-day operation. You canfind these items listed under“General Maintenance” inChapter 8 of your Owner’sManual.Items marked with “*” arerecommended by Nissanfor reliable electric vehicleoperation. You are not requiredto perform maintenance onthese items in order to maintainthe warranties which come withyour Nissan. Other maintenanceitems and intervals are required.When applicable, additionalinformation can be found inthe “Maintenance and do-ityourself” section in Chapter 8 ofyour Owner’s Manual.NOTE: Nissan North Americadoes not advocate theuse of non-OEM approvedaftermarket flushing systemsand strongly advises againstperforming these services ona Nissan product. Many of theaftermarket flushing systemsuse non-OEM approvedchemicals or solvents, the use ofwhich has not been validated byNissan North America.For recommended lubricants,fluids, grease, and refrigerant,refer to Chapter 9 in yourOwner’s Manual.EV SystemCharging Port*Check the charging port for anysigns of contamination, dust,sand, etc.Charging Port Sealing Cap*Use only compressed air withproper eye protection to cleanany contamination from thesealing cap.EV Battery Usage ReportTo maximize the life of your Liion battery, have the EV BatteryUsage Report generated andreviewed with you. Review ofthe EV Battery Usage Reportis required as a condition of EVbattery warranty. Refer to your2019 LEAF warranty informationbooklet for details. Both the12 month and 24 monthinspections will be performed byyour Nissan LEAF certified dealerat no cost to the vehicle owner.9

EXPLANATION OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ITEMSCoolantReplace coolant at the intervalspecified below. When addingor replacing coolant, be sure touse only Genuine Nissan LongLife Antifreeze/Coolant (Blue)or equivalent with the propermixture. (Refer to the Owner’sManual to determine the propermixture for your area.) Therecommended service intervalof the factory-fill coolant is125,000 miles (200,000 km)or 15 years, whichever comesfirst. Subsequent replacementof Genuine Nissan Long LifeAntifreeze/Coolant (Blue)should occur every 75,000miles (120,000 km) or 5 yearswhichever comes first.10NOTE: Mixing any other typeof coolant or the use of nondistilled water will reduce therecommended service intervalof the coolant.Chassis and BodyMaintenance:Brake Lines and CablesVisually inspect for properinstallation. Check for chafing,cracks, deterioration, andsigns of leaking. Replace anydeteriorated or damaged partsimmediately.Brake Pads & RotorsCheck for wear, deteriorationand fluid leaks. Replace anydeteriorated or damaged partsimmediately.In-Cabin MicrofilterReplace at specified intervals.When driving for prolongedperiods in dusty conditions,replace the filter morefrequently.Steering Gear and Linkage,Axle and Suspension Parts,Drive Shaft BootsCheck for damage, looseness,and leakage of oil or grease.Under severe driving conditions,inspect more frequently.Tire RotationTires should be rotated every7,500 miles according to theinstructions in the Owner’sManual. When rotating tires,check for damage and unevenwear. Replace if necessary.Reduction Gear OilVisually inspect for signs ofleakage at specified intervals.Off-Road MaintenanceCheck the following itemsfrequently whenever you driveoff-road through deep sand,mud or water:Brake pads and rotorsBrake lines and hosesReduction gear oilSteering linkage

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULEMAINTENANCE SCHEDULEThe following Maintenance Schedule has been compiledby Nissan to assist you in performing the recommendedmaintenance services and keeping appropriate records ofservices performed. Along with the related repair invoices,receipts, and other such records, a properly documentedmaintenance history could enhance the value of your electricvehicle should you ever wish to sell it. The services listed representthe minimal Nissan recommended requirements for each time/mileage interval, up to 120,000 miles / 96 months. Beginning onpage 37 you will find a log that should be used to track whenand where services were performed. Ask your Service Advisor toupdate your log each time your electric vehicle is serviced.11

COMPLIMENTARY MULTI-POINT INSPECTION*MAINTENANCE SCHEDULEFor the ultimate in preventative maintenance,ask your Service Advisor for a complimentaryMulti-Point Inspection (MPI) every time you visityour participating Nissan LEAF certified dealer.12MPI’s are performed by Nissan factory trainedTechnicians who will provide you with a detailedreport of your electric vehicle’s condition.Driving your Nissan should be as worry-freean experience as possible.
