Opening Hymn: We Gather Together Responsorial Psalm: 2O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fastmy lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand Ishall not be disturbed. R. Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body, too, abides in confidence; because you will not abandon my soul to thenetherworld, nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergocorruption. R. You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever. R. Second Reading Hebrews 10:11 14, 18 Brothers and sisters: Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never takeaway sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and tookhis seat forever at the right hand of God; now he waits until hisenemies are made his footstool. For by one offering he has madeperfect forever those who are being consecrated. Where there isforgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation: Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to stand before the Son of Man. Entrance Antiphon: The Lor d said: I think thoughts of peaceand not of affliction. You will call upon me, and I will answeryou, and I will lead back your captives from every place. Gloria: Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to peopleof good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, weglorify you, We give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God,heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, onlyBegotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, Youtake away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; You takeaway the sins of the world, receive our prayer; You are seated atthe right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone arethe Holy One, you alone are the Lord, You alone are the MostHigh, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God theFather. Amen. First Reading Daniel 12:1 3 In those days, I Daniel, heard this word of the Lord: "At thattime there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian ofyour people; it shall be a time unsurpassed in distress sincenations began until that time. At that time your people shallescape, everyone who is found written in the book. “Many ofthose who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; someshall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror anddisgrace. “But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendorof the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shallbe like the stars forever.” The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Gospel Mark 13:24 32 Jesus said to his disciples: "In those days after that tribulationthe sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in theheavens will be shaken. "And then they will see 'the Son of Mancoming in the clouds' with great power and glory, and then hewill send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky. "Learn a lessonfrom the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sproutsleaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, whenyou see these things happening, know that he is near, at thegates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass awayuntil all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth willpass away, but my words will not pass away. "But of that day orhour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father." Profession of Faith: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven andearth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord JesusChrist, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before allages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him allthings were made. For us men and for our salvation he came downfrom heaven, (bow here) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffereddeath and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordancewith the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at theright hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge theliving and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe inthe Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from theFather and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son is adored andglorified, Who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the

Weekend Offering November 6 7, 2021 Weekly Offering . 33,187.78 Weekly Average Needed 20,611.35 Weekly Over/(Short) 12,576.43 The staggering number of people leaving the Catholic Church and anyorganized religion for that matter ought to be a concern for all of us. Aconcern, not a fear, not an anxiety. A concern that should lead us to askbigger questions. What is going on? What does God think about this? How can God work through me to bring others the goodness of our faith? Why am I still here when many have left? We can leave some of these questions open for now, but let’sremember God’s method for saving us. He became flesh. He became oneof us. God made flesh in our world Jesus’ incarnation, his birth, intothis world is how God has come to save us. This method is still thesame today. Jesus’ birth took place 2,000 years ago, and still takes onflesh today in each one of us. This is the Church, this gathering ofbelievers who have encountered Christ and make him present. Ourweaknesses and faults are no obstacle to those who allow even the seed offaith to take root. We have the responsibility to make Jesus present in ourworld over and over again so that others might meet him again. From a book I’m reading called “Where is God? Christian Faithin the Time of Great Uncertainty” I find these challenging and consolingwords: “We can complain about secularization, but weshould also ask ourselves what responsibility weChristians have for this situation, through the way wehave lived and live our faith. Many people have leftChristianity deliberately, while others have broken awayalmost without knowing it, but I wonder how many havedistanced themselves because they have not seen a faithincarnated in daily reality, in true and living testimonies, full of humanity?. Today as well this is the only wayChristianity can evoke interest, by touching the needs ofpeople . Now this is our great responsibility: we who bygrace have encountered an answer, the ‘beyond’ madeflesh, who continues to be present in history through thehuman companionship of the Church, have been called totestify to Him with our life. We have been given a graceto share, so that others can touch it with their hand andknow that an adequate response exists to the thirst oftheir heart. God made flesh in each one of us.” It is all of our responsibility to “grow” the church, to live our lifeas a proposal desiring to share what and who we have encountered thatresponds to the real needs of the heart. Let’s not miss this importantmethod. Many of us agonize over loved ones who leave their faith. It’sup to us, not to argue them back in or manipulate them, but to live moreintensely a faith that actually helps us. We must demonstrate by our wayof life how this encounter with Christ brings a real answer to the needs ofour heart and the real needs and challenges of living. Only a real proposalthat is relevant to real life can draw a person lost in the confusion of thisworld back to Jesus. And it is Jesus living in each of us that is the firstproposal to guide someone back to Mass, the Eucharist, the sacraments.Let’s get out there and live with Christ! Stumbling, repenting, joyfullysuffering, and living with Christ! We are going to learn more about the Incarnation of Christ thisAdvent through a book I want us all to read. We will give you a free copyon the Feast of Christ the King November 20 21. Peace, Fr. Samson 3
