This book contains all the updated special rules from thecurrent Flames Of War Intelligence Handbooks availableto create forces from. These books were published for theprevious edition of the rules so not all the rules as printed inthe books work with the new rules.Under the heading of each Intelligence Handbook you willfind the modified rules organised under each nation. Thesehave been organised as they appear in the book, rather thanalphabetically, so you should find the rules for your forcegrouped together. Each of these sections also contains updated versions of theWarrior rules from the same Intelligence Handbook.Ears and Disengage are no longer relevant as both these rulesno longer exist.RULES NO LONGER USEDSome Teams are no longer are used in Flames Of War. GunUnits, such as Anti-tank gun Platoons and Artillery Batteries, and Heavy Weapon (Man-packed Gun) Units like Mortarand Machine-gun Platoons, no longer field commandInfantry teams, Staff teams, or excess Observer teams. Theseare not deployed on the table. Repeat Bombardments areavailable to all Artillery Units (see page 49 of the rulebook).Instead one of the Gun Teams or Heavy Weapon Teams isnominated to be the Unit Leader.Flames Of War also uses less Observer Teams and you haveto pick one of the Observer Teams you have available in yourforce to be your designated Observer Team (see page 8 ofthe rulebook). All other Observer Teams that appear in yourUnit diagrams are not fielded on table.Because Tank Teams only stop moving if they fail a Crosstest, Recovery Vehicles no longer serve any purpose in thegame. Do not field Recovery Vehicles in your force. In each Intelligence Handbook’s section you will find a shortlist of rules that are no longer used. These are no longer usedeither because of changes to the rules or the ability is available as part of the main rules. For example, Mission Tactics, and any rules that are based onit like the Canadian Woodsmen special rule, have no bearing. All Unit Leaders work much the same as the old MissionTactics rule as you can move your Leader to another team ifit is destroyed, effectively giving everybody Mission Tactics. In another example, changes to how the Missions workmeans that Always Attacks and Always Defends related rulesno longer have any bearing on determining such things.Another area where special rules are effected is with reconnaissance related modifiers. Any rule that effects Eyes andWHAT RULES STILL APPLYWhile there are a few rules that are no longer used, mostspecial rules you will find in an Intelligence Handbookwill still be used, either in a modified form as found in thisbook or the rulebook, or as written as they are found inthe Intelligence Handbook. A common example of this aregroups of Units that are bought together, but are fielded andoperate as separate Units like British Carrier Platoons.TEAMSWARRIOR TEAMSEach of our Intelligence Handbooks have a number of Warriors you can field with your force, whether they are commanding a Formation, or a Unit, or just a soldier, you can field them on the table. You can find all of the Warriors from our Intelligence Handbooks, complete with updated rules, in this book. You canalso download the Warriors in a separte PDF from www.FlamesOfWar.com, or the Flames Of War Digital App (availableon Android and IOS). Each PDF includes their unique stories and rules. Many of the Warriors have their own uniqueminiatures that you can find at your local hobby store or from our online store at www.FlamesOfWar.com.2

Warriors are outstanding soldiers who perform amazingfeats. Whether their actions are heroic fights against the oddsor inspiring leadership in desperate situations, these warriorscan change the outcome of battles by their strength of willand personal courage.Warriors can be any type of team. While some warriorsare infantrymen, others are tank commanders, and someare even generals travelling in their transport vehicle. EachWarrior team is unique. There can only be one of each particular Warrior in any force.HIGHER COMMANDWARRIOR INDEPENDENT TEAMSWarriors are not supermen and can be wounded or killedduring a battle like any other soldier. When a Warrior Team is Destroyed the owning playerrolls a die. On a roll of 3 , the Warrior survives and switches toanother Team if there is one available. If there are noTeams of the appropriate Type within 6”/15cm, theWarrior is killed. Otherwise, the Warrior is killed. Some Warriors are not part of a Unit and operate as anIndependent Team. An personal Transport Team that comeswith the Warrior remains part of the Warrior IndependentUnit. However, unlike normal Independent Teams WarriorIndependent Team can Charge into Contact, Counterattack, and take Objectives.WARRIORS ALWAYS STAND AND FIGHTBeing heroic, a Warrior Independent Team never has to takea Unit Last Stand Test.WHEN SHOT ATWhen a Warrior Independent Team is hit, the owning playermay select another Unit and use the Mistaken Target rule toswap hits between them as if they were the same Unit.WARRIORS IN ASSAULTA Warrior Independent Team can combine with a Unit fromtheir Formation, or any Unit in their Force if a Warrior HigherCommand Team, to conduct a joint assault (page 52 of therulebook). To do this, the Warrior and the Unit Leader mustbe of the same Type (Tank or Infantry) and must start theAssault Step within 6”/15cm and in Line of Sight of eachother. For the duration of the Assault Step, the combinedUnit is treated as a single Unit having the higher of the twoUnits’ Counterattack values, unless otherwise specified bythe Warriors special rules.Only one Warrior Independent Team may conduct a jointassault (page 52 of the rulebook) with each Unit Charginginto Contact. Some Warriors were in command of higher level formationslike battalions, regiments and even divisions.Higher Command Warriors can use the Commander’sLeadership rule (see page 60 of the rulebook) for any Unitsin your Force.Warrior Higher Command Teams are always WarriorIndependent Teams.KILLING WARRIORSSWITCHING TO ANOTHER TEAMIf your Warrior Infantry Team survives, remove anotherfriendly Infantry Team from their Formation, or in theirForce if a Warrior Higher Command Team, within 6”/15cmand replace it with the Warrior’s Team.If your Warrior Tank Team survives, nominate anotherfriendly Tank Team from their Formation, or in their Forceif a Warrior Higher Command Team, within 6”/15cm as thenew Warrior. The Warrior now uses the characteristics of thenew Tank Team.ONLY ROLL ONCEIf a Warrior is Destroyed multiple times by a Unit’s Shooting, the Warrior still only needs to roll once to see if they survive.WARRIORS IN UNITSOther Warriors are part of one of your Units, often replacing one of the normal Teams and sometimes becoming theUnit Leader. These Warriors remain part of the Unit for theentire game.3
