About Advanced Features & OperationCALIBRATION - Under normal circumstances it will not be necessary toadjust the calibration of the temperature. If calibration is required,please contact a trained HVAC technician to correctly perform thefollowing procedure.MODEPress the MODEbutton once. All iconswill appear on the display.COOL88MODEHEAT88After calibration iscomplete, pressthe MODE buttononce to saveOFFyour changes andreturn to normal operation.DEADBAND OPERATION - Controls up to two Heat and two Cool stages(please see the diagram on the next page).The 1st Stage of heat or cool is turned on when:(A) The temperature spread from the setpoint is equal to or greaterthan: the setpoint plus the 1st stage deadband (step #7, page 11).This 1st stage deadband is adjustable from 1-6 degrees and thedefault is two degrees.The 2nd Stage of heat or cool is turned on when:(A) The 1st Stage has been on for a minimum of two minutes.And(B) The temperature spread from the setpoint is equal to or greaterthan: the setpoint plus the 1st stage deadband (step #7, page 11),plus the 2nd stage deadband. This 2nd stage deadband is fixed attwo degrees and is not adjustable.Page 14

Since most gas furnaces control the fan, this feature shouldbe off unless it is necessary for the thermostat to energize the fan withfirst stage heat.EMERGENCY HEAT - Only available if you have a Heat Pumpinstalled. To initiate the Emergency Heat feature, press the FANbutton. While holding the FAN button press the UP button. TheCool setpoint display will read ‘EH’ (emergency heat).Press forEmergency HeatHEAT68FANOperation - During Emergency Heat operation the thermostat will turn onthe fan and the 2nd stage of heat when there is a demand for heat. Alsoduring Emergency Heat, the 1st stage of heating or cooling will beunavailable.Exit Emergency Heat - Follow the same steps as entering Emergency Heatby pressing the FAN and UP buttons. During Emergency Heat, only OFFand HEAT modes are available by pressing the MODE button.Page 15

About Advanced Features & OperationFACTORY DEFAULTS - If, for any reason, you desire to return all the storedsettings back to the factory default settings, follow the instructions below.WARNING: This will reset all Time Period and Advanced Programming tothe default settings. Any information entered prior to this reset will bepermanently lost.After all of the iconsappear, release theMODE Place the therm-FAN MODE and DOWNostat in the OFFmode.buttons. Then pressand hold the FANbutton for 5 seconds.OFFPress and hold the AUTOMODE button.While holding theMODE MODE button, pressand hold the DOWNbutton for 5 secOFF Fan Ononds. All icons willappear on the display.COOL88HEAT88After the letters Fdappear on the display(FactoryDefault),MODErelease the FANbutton. Press theMODE button twiceto return to normaloperation.OFFHEAT/COOL DIFFERENTIAL - The Heat and Cool setpoints will not beallowed to come any closer to each other than the value set in AdvancedSetup step #8, on page 12. This minimum difference is enforced duringAuto changeover and Program On operation.Note: To increase the spread between the heating and cooling setpoints,press the MODE button until only the heat setpoint is displayed; adjust tothe desired setpoint. Press the MODE button until only the cool setpointis displayed; adjust to the desired setpoint. Press the MODE button againto enter the Auto changeover mode where both the heat and coolsetpoints are displayed.MEMORY BACKUP - In the event of a power loss, the thermostat will retainthe stored program settings without external power or batteries.SINGLE SETPOINT BEHAVIOR - When configured as a Single Setpointthermostat, page 10, step #2, the large number is the setpoint. In Automode the deadband is above and below the setpoint. To avoid shortcycling in single setpoint it is recommended that the deadband be setfor at least 2 degrees, page 11, step #7.Page 16

To disable, or ‘lock’ the keypad,press and hold the MODE button.
